Would actually happily take Doucoure but knowing Watford, they’ll throw their toys out if the pram and demand £70 million from us. Need him to push for a move himself to get the price to a reasonable amount. Him and Allan (with Gomes in a 3) makes our midfield massively more improved with grit, engine, tenacity and an eye for goal. We’d need to shift a couple of of either Delph, Sig, Tom (sorry), Bernard to accommodate the incomings though

70million was hyperbole mate , apparently they’re holding out for 25million. Not wholly unreasonable but if he’s keen for the move we may be able to haggle it down. They may be less willing to haggle with us though. Anything around 20 will be a good deal but he has got 3 years left on his contract I think

Some people want an exotic name that nobody has ever heard of to be signed. Then they will moan about money being wasted on exotic named signings that nobody ever heard of when the player turns out to be average at best.

Signing players that have performed well in the Premiership means you know exactly what you are getting and the player should be able to settle much quicker.
Signing Ducouere for about 25m when he was rated at 50m about two years ago seems very good value.
If Watford had not been relegated we would probably have to add another 15m at least to have any chance at all of signing the player.

To put that into context, McKennie is going for around the same price. Might be wrong in the long run if he turns out to be the next Captain America but on paper I’m taking Doucouré every day of the week over him

....playing Championship football, it’s unlikely they will match the wages they are on with us. Players are very unlikely to accept a drop in pay, never mind a drop in level.
