I would think if we can’t attract better than 28 year old relegated Abdoulaye Doucoure then we may find ourselves in a bit of trouble in the near future.

Each individual should be taken on their merits not the team they are in. I do agree there will be cheaper options than the Doucs, but also they have more risk in terms of coping with the prem. Docourse and Allan in midfield sounds a hell of a lot better though doens't it?
We have to be shopping in both ponds, experienced, proven PL talent who amy cost a bit more, and also teh unproven talent, who can go on to A. be signed for cheaper and B. if sold, sold for a big profit.
Fishing in only one of the ponds doesn't work.

Than who bud, Doucoure? Surely him AND Allan is a serious upgrade for our centre mid.
For me it seems really clear, Carlo is saying “I need better players than I’ve got in these positions now and I need leadership and fight”.
Once that’s sorted then the younger more glamorous players can come in, but adding them to what we’ve got currently simply won’t work
Tim Cahill who failed to win promotion at Milwall was tidy too.

Having watched both of them play, I can confirm Abdoulaye Doucoure is not Idrissa Gueye unfortunately.
Tbf though, we finished 12th and we've been crap/irrelevant for years.
The only thing that makes us stand out above the likes of Burnley, Southampton (or other teams which finished around us) really atm is our manager and the fact we can pay some decent wages.
We're really not that of an attractive proposition.
