This is obviously a highly subjective opinion but for me half of those things aren't worth spending money on which makes it not really a good price. I know people think it made sense but I didn't from the start and I don't feel hugely different right now except I do have to say at full strength he gives us just enough to be a complete team.
I’m not saying it was a desperate last minute buy, but I think it was what’s available at the time. With Allan having all ready misssed 1/3 of the games and maybe a couple more to come. No way in a million years we’d be fourth, with Davies/Gomes/siggurdsson playing most weeks

Probably not, but I just feel like better value existed. I mean Soucek (I'm not saying he's a better player) at West Ham is kind of a similar player in adding legs and power but is younger, cheaper and more consistent at adding to the team in the final third. I don't mean we should have signed Soucek or even that he's necessarily better but just to illustrate that options were around.

One of him or Holgate will have to for me we cant go back to the midfield of Gomes/Davies/Siggurdsson its absolutely horrific.
It's going to be 2028. Godfrey won't have played midfield since he was in League 2. Holgate won't since that United game where he had about 12 touches as we played classic 1970s hoofball. And people will still ask every other week if it is a good idea to try one of them in midfield.

The answer is no.

Well we wouldn't have to ask for said players to be moved into midfield if the club actually signed some decent midfielders who could stay fit would we?

I mean Delph - pulled his hammie early Dec - 3-4 week injury at most and he'll be out 6 weeks come Villa.

Gbamin played 2 games in over a year.

The list goes on.

It’s easy in hindsight though. Out of the 2 most would have wanted Doucoure.

You don't have to anyway.

Of course we do - did you watch us last season? Our midfield was genuinely atrocious and thats the exact same midfield who will be lining up against Villa with Doucoure and Allan both out.

Unless we play 5/6 at the back we need someone who can put a tackle in midfield.

Grealish/Barkley will be skipping past Slowmes/Siggurdsson like they are not even there.
