A brands signing. Ancelotti didnt want him. And this is the issue i will always have with a DOF. If they are not good at their job it reflects on the pitch. So even if a manager leaves they still come in to work with the poor signings of a DOF. I still dont know what credentials marcel brand had to be in such an important role here. Worked in the dutch league only. And is now back in the dutch league.
Saying all that i hope doucoure has the game of his life tomorrow. He isn't great but he does tend to put a shift in. Sadly thats the Everton team right now. Grit and passion has been the main reason we've crawled out the bottom 3 in the past few weeks when we were 5 points adrift.
If we stay up the recruitment has to be 100% better. I look at some teams, not even the top teams, in this division and their midfield look so more composed on the ball. Staggering how Everton cant find players who can play with the money spent.

But the fact is that 7 managers, 1 owner, 1 Chairman, 3 super agents and 2 DoF built this squad.

Unless we give Thelwell full control the same problems will occur.

He's a decent at best player who will function well when he's not gonna be the focal point. For example, he looked very good with James and Allan in the side when they all came in, were you slagging him off then? Nah - he did a good job, did what was asked, carried a lot of water for the team.

We need to stop wasting money on a lot more things and players and also their severance packages, not on players who are good enough to play. He also didn't exactly cost us that much and is in no way shape or form "the reason why we're so low in the table".

The point is, Doucure is not the sole reason we're here - he's not even our worst player. Gueye was the same but even more defensively oriented.
