I actually hope we have done this with an eye to selling him this summer.
I doubt it though because I don't trust the capability of our recruitment team to think that way OR sign someone who is like him, but can actually pass and shoot on a consistent basis.

He is a solid professional who can do a job for us.
We could let him leave but then we would probably have to pay more than 20m just to replace him.... that would make no sense for a club that has to be very careful with it's spending.

Absolutely nobody on planet earth is paying a 30 year old Abdoulaye Doucoure £120k a week. He’s here next season regardless of what league we’re in.

Contractual obligation. So if we'd waited until next week, we would have been negotiating with him and his agent and most likely he'd be asking for a 2 or 3 year deal.

Not sure how accurate that is but it shows Mina, Doucoure and Iwobi as our top earners on 120k per week. Pickford in the group on 100k. Nice work if you can get it eh!
I'd say it looks largely accurate but for a few suspect ones, like Iwobi on 120k and Godfrey just short of 80k

Last season on £120k as a 31 year old though, no one needs to match it, just give him a 3y contract on let’s say £70k /w then he’s got a choice to make over guaranteed £6m (and playing with the risk of a career ending injury) or guaranteed £10m come 3 more years or a leg breaker……
No way is Gray (or McNeil) on £25k per week.
