We’ll continue to have no money long into the future if we keep extending the huge, huge contracts of ageing deadwood players.

I defo get that, but he's a starting player which means we would have to replace him.

Which includes a fee and wages, meaning we would spend more doing that. Plus, it looks like Davies is probably going to leave, so there are 2 midfielders we would have to bring in. Bearing in mind the person in charge of all this couldn't find us 1 player during the last window.

I just don't know what the answer is, other than let him leave and sign a better player; which I don't trust we can do.

I'm hoping Doucs said "you may have been a far more accomplished player than I'll ever be, but I think I'd make a far better manager than you'll ever be".

If they're gonna fall out, let the insults fly!

By some accounts, Doucoure gripped him by the throat post Southampton. That was the culmination of a few fall outs over his time there. Lets not forget Doucoure spending the entirety of one pre-match warm up simply sitting on the ball, refusing to warm up with the team.

If you have an issue with somebody, deal with it, no need to put the team at risk, or stop trying. If he was that frustated with not getting a game, he could pf tried actually doing something when he was on the pitch. He's had a couple of decent games cause hes been lucky enough to start with a clean sheet and new manager, but hes been poor for ages, it cant always be the managers fault. At times, he simply cant pass a ball.

And how much was Frank responsible?

A lot. However, players are paid to enact orders, Lampard is paid to give them. If its not working, its not working, but you should always try your damnedest to ensure that its not failing due to lack of effort. I couldn't care less what happens off the pitch until it starts affecting whats happening on the pitch.

Sauce?

I actually think this had got a lot better under Dyche. I really liked when he said (words to the affect of) he isnt going to have a go at them for having a shot. To me it was another example of level headed, clear thinking, realistic advise hes giving.

We are not good enough to make lots of good chances, so in all honesty "recycling" the ball for us doesnt lead to us creating a better chance. Its leads to us creating 0 chance and sometimes being countered.

I really liked the fact McNeil had that cross shot which was close to going in, and even Mykolenko had a go. It's sort of weight of averaged stuff, but if you get 10 shots, 1 may go in, which is sort of what happened.

Theres no way Coleman takes that shot on under Lampard. He was sending his teams out with the message of dont lose the ball easily. When you then keep losing the ball, it becomes confusing and demoralising.

The whole sequence was good as well, Doucoure good interception, good forward pass to Maupay, good hold up play from him, good run from Coleman and a sensible ball from Iwobi. Very few compartments of that would have been done under Lampard.

It's a lot smarter play, and it's sort of smarter play in a way I think top players like Lampard will probably never really understand. He was an exceptional player, in exceptional teams, where it wouldnt make sense to cede possession. But that's not how you go from being an awful side to an average one.
Agree with nearly all of that, but Lampard employed the same tactics at Chelsea who had top players, I think he is just clueless in general

If I give my goldfish orders to sprout wings and fly down to the shops for me, who's the one that's out of order when it just swims about and does bugger all?

Frank was incredible stubborn, and persisted with a failing plan and zero plan B. He appears to have believed he was surrounded with Chelsea 2005 riches - he sorely wasn't. That away at Spurs was a shocker, and he didn't learn. martinez bombed out Distin. koeman same with Niasse. benitez bombed out James. Lampard eventually was faced with having alienated himself from more than a few in the squad and it simply couldn't be done.

More fool him.

I think we can find a better bang for you buck deal than Doucoure. He’s pretty poor if you ask me.

Well, I agree that he's neither an Arteta-like distributor (soz to the haters), not an all over the pitch Cahill finisher, but he works hard, and can rapidly run the ball from our half, deep into theirs. If he could only add the ability in the opposition area to contact a bovine creature's posterior with a country music stringed instrument, he'd be a real player, in my view.
