I don't quite know what it says when he's the only one left of the covid season midfield intake. Outlasted Allan and James, plus he's also seen off Siggurdson, Tom Davies and Andre Gomes who were also midfield options back then.

The least technically able out of the lot, but still a first team regular. Then others left or are languishing.

Also due to the fact that Doucoure is like a playable character for Dyche in FIFA. You could hear his instructions over the commentry against bournemouth.

Part of a squad that's had us in that position for 2 years in a row, we shouldn't be celebrating a player doing something that needed doing because he helped put us in that place.

Coming into this season, in 11 years as a top division professional he's finished literally two in the top half of his league's table (one of those being the covid season with Don Carlo), and he usually isn't particularly near the top half. That kind of thing usually isn't a coincidence.

….I was only thinking about this myself yesterday. He’ll never be the Glen Hoddle no10 some posters crave but he’ll be appreciated by his teammates and manager for the contribution he makes.

I wondered if we manage to get ourselves in a safe looking position and the FFP outcome isn’t too limiting if Doucoure might be offered a new deal. He might actually fancy a Bosman, can’t see him signing an extension for less than 2 seasons.

I always get the impression playing football matches matters to him.

The 2 seasons seems to be whats on the table with an option of a 3rd.

Am sure some Saudi teams will be sniffing round him.

I agree and seeing the fees theyre willing to pay, we might even sneak a £10-15mil fee for him in the summer. Sensible to lock him down really.

He needs replacing.

I think he'll remain as a starter and Thelwell will be looking to pickup a Chermiti type as back up for him. Gives a kid some time to develop, unless we sell in the summer now his value is protected.

Hopefully they've stuck a relegation clause in this contract.

If were going with Onana, Garner, Doucoure and moving on Dele, Gana and Gomes then we need to hope 2 of them are moved on in January for fees.

Bringing in 3 new midfielders isnt going to be cheap.
