2023/24 Abdoulaye Doucoure

A one year extension is perfectly sensible. He's a first team regular and he's scoring goals in his current position. We also have loads of players out of contract next year and seemingly very little money to replace them. He's not the best player, technically, but he never seem to give anything less than 100%. This is a pretty low risk move for me.

Doucoures form and injuries have coincided with the teams form over the years - think he gives us a physical / competitive presence on the pitch, seems pretty sensible to extend.

We should be queuing up a younger version behind him if we can.

Great to have him extend his contract… one of them players you wonder what he offers to the team.. but he’s the one you miss most when he’s not there, the type of player his team mates love having alongside them

However much you love the club, you should NEVER refuse to train and sit on the ball infront of 40000 people.
People still upset about this? The lad was told he’d never play and we kept losing… I’d be fuming too if I was ready to come in and offer something better to help keep us up.

He’s always given 100% on the pitch and showed frightening levels of fitness his whole Everton career so him getting a titty lip when he was told he wasn’t playing is fine by me… when Dyche called on him he was ready to go hard

I think he is a limited, at best, player. His physicality and work ethic, however, make him an integral part of Dyche's team. I don't like Dyche ball and I don't rate Doucoure as a premier league footballer, but, both Dyche and Doucoure are well suited to our current predicament.
