I thought he looked more comfortable on the left linked up nicely with Digne. I agree it didn’t happen for him against Newcastle, Watford was slightly different because the team looked disjointed for the 1st time this season. He deserves a go in my opinion. I don’t think Bernard has been particularly poor and can be effective off the bench, I think we have the players to mix it up in this Christmas period. The table will look a bit rosier after New Years Day. We have had a very tough away fixture list since the start of September and the home form will sort itself out.

He comes on does well in a short space of time and some wanting him starting from the off.
Big difference coming on late agst tired players and looking good.
Agst a really crap Newcastle he got the start and never looked like grasping the opportunity.
He's undoubtedly a talent when he's not sulking or looking arsed .
If he was doing enough Silva would be starting him every game....obviously he's not.

Hes not started in his favoured position.

He played against Newcastle and was truly abysmal. Playing on the left will not dampen the fact that he still misses things like awareness

It’s not Zat, the winger going inside creates space for the fullback. People moaned Coleman and Walcott get in each other’s way so Lookman came in, and lost the ball more times that I can remember

Being utilised against tiring legs is what he’s good for. People have this perception that he’s an amazing footballer and will carve teams open, I strongly disagree

And yet you admitted that when he comes on for cameos in the correct position he does look good...

Ergo playing him in the wrong position isnt enough to judge him on as a starter.

Richarlison played CF in Brazilian u20 sides + for Watford in a number of games.

Can you think of half a dozen games where lookman has played on the right before this season?

Same thing happened to Dowell last year on loan...was shunted onto the left and the goals dried up and performances dipped.

Goals dried up for him at Watford when they threw him up top.
Never the less Lookman aint starting on the left in front of Richarlison or Bernard.
Ive seen him play central and on the right for England ....the difference being he didnt sulk and actually played very well.

I’m not adverse to giving him a go but I just don’t buy the “he’s a world beater” tag that seems to have been pinned to him.


And yes, Walcott was always the least talented player in that arsenal team and I couldn’t argue anymore that the 19 goals he got that season will not be replicated because he has no composure and poor technique

I dont think anyone has said hes a world beater.

For me, i just want him given 2 or 3 starts left or centre to see how he does...if he doesnt perform then bench him again.

And Walcott also looked like he was shot out of a canon tonight because he came on against tired legs.

Lookman is fine cutting in from the left and his tricks are fun and entertaining. But this idea of selling Siggy to replace him with Lookman is pure comedy. Imagine Lookman playing the position Sigurdsson was today? Dear lord help us.
