Wouldn’t be the end of the world like, but wingers are probably the most exciting players to watch so wouldn’t be against us bringing another class one in. Only takes an injury to Bernard or Richarlison and you’re starting Walcott again, so I’d be more than happy to have another top notch winger to go alongside Bernard & Richarlison.

CF, CM and CB have to be priority above that though.

Yep, how I feel, and then maybe a right back is a priority too. We need to be more clinical though and ideally another richarlison would be great, but look at what we spent on him, we won't be spending that much on another winger this summer so that'd be unrealistic.

Ridiculous when he clearly shows he has potential with the limited gametime he gets
Is it though? He's just not getting in and not making enough of an impact when he does. I wanted it to work as I do think he has potential but I can't see him reaching it with us now. He just doesn't seem happy too. So why turn down 20m plus?

My view is 15 starts in 2 years is really not enough time to make a judgement on a player who is only 21. Selling him now could be a huge mistake. It could also be inconsequential. I'd prefer we wait as long as possible to find out.
It isn't but how long do you wait when he is worth money?! And there's often a reason why a player isn't getting more games. I would have liked to have seen him more this season and last, but I think it's partly his poor attitude and inconsistent training why he doesn't get more minutes to be honest. I like the kid but I think you over state where he is right now. If he was of that level he would have got in this season he would have forced his way into the first team. It might just be a case of this being the wrong club for him he has never struck me as someone who was particularly happy to be here to be honest. He may go away and do it somewhere else but essentially there seem to be factors why he won't do it here.

I honestly don't have an answer to that question. Obviously someone in the club rates him or he would be a Red Bull right now. At the same time he wasn't trusted to start games despite as I'm sure you're aware from the other thread what I see as a player who was far from undroppable in Bernard being ahead of him. So how good is he and when should we just give up? Honestly from what we've seen that question is unanswerable. But I'd like for the answer to come from him actually getting a chance.

....i’m sure Silva and Brands are fully aware of the talent and rate him very highly, but they won’t wait forever for that to translate itself to application in the first team. The player will have a price, it’s just a matter of how long he’s given to prove himself.

Let’s not forget, even if he’s not a starter, he’s a useful player to have on the bench.

I look at this season and see him get 2 assists in about 600 minutes which isn't great but is also not a bad place to grow from but I don't think it'll happen if he's never trusted to start at least 4 or 5 games in a row one time. I think he has 15 starts since we signed him. That's tough for anyone much less someone who is 21 stepping up two divisions.

Bottomline is I can't get over how we are going to potentially let someone with this much raw ability walk and not really know if we did all we could to harness it.

Is it us or him though mate? He has responsibility too.

....points are so valuable, Managers find it difficult to give any player a run of games to prove themselves. It’s simple really, and it’s probably down to the things he’s not doing when he gets his chance as opposed to what he is doing. Players will have strict roles and disciplines they are expected to deploy, within those they can produce their moments of magic and brilliance.

I imagine Lookman is not fully fulfilling the basics within his areas of responsibility. He’s a talent, but he’s a bit of an enigma.

It's another question that's hard to answer since I can't see training but what I do see on the field I'm impressed by. Saturday was an impressive half hour which is why I'm back trumpeting him again. If it were up to me I'd have been finding out what he has these last few months.

We were in the rare situation of points not meaning much the last 3 or 4 weeks. Not only would I have played Lookman but Davies and Kenny too. I get the carrying momentum argument but I'd have preferred to give the young boys some minutes.

...not for me. Silva knows exactly what Kenny, Lookman and Davies can do. Pick your strongest team, don’t use the Premier League to trial players. Let’s not forget, he’s watching these lads on a daily basis, they need to demonstrate they can be first choice.

I'm a believer that evaluating players on training only is not a good way to see how they will perform in real games. Not that it will be better either but the actual environment is different and seeing them with that responsibility could reveal something. I'm not to the point that I blindly trust Silva on every decision yet.

....training will be very serious, players will have targets and expectation. They need to be achieving those before they are rewarded with opportunity.
