It’s refreshing to see us getting rid of young players that aren’t good enough, Lookman and Vlasic leaving permanently with others going out on loan. Makes a nice change, rather than us holding onto them for years hoping that they might come good. For all Lookmans raw ability, there was always something not quite right about him.

It was a very poor decision to delay this sale for a year.

  • We got about the same as was offered as season
  • We retained a player with the wrong attitide
  • We lost the opportunity to have this cash last season when a striker was just as imperative as it is now

An utter calamity.
i assume they refused so Silva could have a look at him for a season before making the decision.
Deffo not a calamity

You think Brands expected Lookman to have the attitude he’s had all season, and literally have 0 good performances?

He was kept because Brands thought he would progress. He didn’t.
I can't believe I'm agreeing with Davek but they really did need to be more honest with where he was. If by the end of preseason he was 4th choice then anything 20m or higher should have been taken. We are signing first XI players for that so players worth that can't be sat on the bench.

Just one entry in a long list of management mistakes involving the player really.

Don't ignore the signs.

I don't know if Davek rates him or not but from a business standpoint holding on to an asset for a year and not getting any tangible benefit from it and then selling it a year later at the same price is bad business. If you don't need it you take the money when offered.

The far better thing to do would have been use him last season. But by not doing that we made the decision to not sell last year wrong as well.

Marco said multiple times publically that Lookman didn’t perform in training. It was clear to him for most of the season that he won’t get opportunities if he doesn’t earn them..

I’m pretty sure that if they intended to give him 3 starts over the season they would’ve just loaned him out or sold him.

I don’t see the issue here.

We had a new manager and DOF last season. Lookman is/was highly rated, it would make sense to check him out first before making a decision on him.

I would assume they thought they could get something out of them. Obviously after a longer look they have decided he is not the one for them. Its not really that bad business. Bad business would be blindly making decisions on assets without even looking at them.

Why should he perform in training? HEY? Its not his fault he couldnt be bothered to run, its a joke expecting effort.
