Ademola Lookman

Why do you like him so much? Like honestly you’ve got to have only seen him play like 6 times like the rest of us.

Without answering for him, it becomes incredibly irritating when a player leaves and some fans immediately resort to labelling them a bad egg and refuse to apportion any blame for the players lack of integration toward the current regime.

“Silva said he was lazy, therefore he must be so.”

You can still be a fan and suggest that the club could have handled matters differently. It doesn’t mean your loyalties lie with Lookman or that you like him any more than any other player - it’s just naturally frustrating to see a player with such obvious talent fail to make the grade here for a number of reasons, some of which are the responsibility of the player and some of which are accountable to both the current and previous management teams.

We will live to regret this and foolish if we haven't inserted a buy back or at the very lest a percentage of his inevitable next move for close to 80 mill.

Cant help but feel it was the year of 17/18 were it all turned sour, in a year of disgusting safety football we were never going to play an expansive talented, 19/20 year old. we thought a loan would be a win. Had the exact opposite effect, his head was obviously turned and in all honesty probably didnt want to be here last year, he wanted to be a first team regular at RBL.

I think the management team have come to the conclusion that the ball was dropped with him, he isnt happy to be here and have relented, via the fact we need cash.

A huge pity because anyone with an eye for a footballer knows this lad is a special player.

wait and see what we replace him with.
The problem is if handled correctly this would instead read "wait and see who we add to play with him." There are still opportunity costs here even if we get Malcom or Pepe in both of whom would be great signings.

Exactly, the club make mistakes all the time and are dropping a clanger here with this lad, though id put the blame down to the previous position holders 17/18.

Because he's the only player we have that is two footed, pacey, able to go by players at ease, and clever enough to get into the box to both shoot and set up others. Basically he's the only player we have that even resembles the best modern day wingers a little bit and we've thrown that potential away for the "safe" options. I put safe in quotes because Walcott and Bolasie were both used over him because they had more tactical experience only for them to both not track back and cost us goals.

You’ve just described Bernard, an infinitely better player in the same position.

if he's capable of all that, then can you explain to everyone why he never did it on the pitch?!! He had zero end product, in all the chances he was given. Add in his complete lack of defensive effort, and the quotes about his lack of effort and consistency in training, plus the fact 4 managers in succession didn't want to give him a run of games, and people are still banging the " This kid is amazing, we'll regret it" drum. amazing.

Gets into the box and gets shots away and sets up others does not in any way describe Bernard sorry. And Lookman is faster for sure and I'd say better at beating players on dribbles but I can't really prove that at the moment.

Bernard averages a goal or an assist every 461.6 minutes

Lookman averages a goal or an assist every 118.5 minutes

Lookman is 6 years younger.

Incredibly bad business in the modern market to let him go for half what Chelsea have REJECTED for Hudson Odoi

So only one manager in the last 4 years has played him from club and country and you still think it is their issue?

You can’t prove any of the above because you know you’ve just written a load of wham.
I can pretty easily prove Bernard does most of his work outside the box. It isn't hard to see if you care to look.

I don't know why there has to be so much dishonestly about Bernard tbh. You can rate him without making him more than he is. He's a guy who links play and works hard but as a creator he's average and he doesn't add a goal threat.
