Ademola Lookman

Three Everton managers were bad at their job and RBL manager didn't want him, doesn't play a system that suits him and actually has other good players.

I mean, don't forget Unsworth here either? Unsworth was giving Baningime, Kenny and Davies game time, yet was playing Lennon ahead of Lookman. His attitude has to be the reason.

Refuse to believe Leipzig didn't play a system which didn't fit him, one season earlier, he went there and made such an impression that in 12 months nothing changed where he couldn't get off the bench. Face it, first sign of competition the lad folded like a pack of cards and instead of fighting for a place, sulked.

Saw him at Charlton before he signed for us and was dead impressed. Evidently had what it takes even at that early stage

Fell foul in the prem because people expect instant results. Difficult to bring through and develop talent without attracting the ire of the fans. I mean, look at DCL, some people on here wanted him strung up because he wasn't doing it straight away. Proof that patience is a virtue

Imagine shipping this kid out and buying Three-o Walcott instead. Would be a great option off the bench for us. Dearry me

Unsworth managed like 2 games.

Sometimes the players is right. And in this case Lookman (and Vlasic) was right that the managers didn't know what they were doing. He was right to want out.

Blame his attitude if you want but no manager complains about his attitude when he's playing football. That's all he ever wanted. To me that's a good thing, that a player is not interested in watching.

The other thing is that the idea that a player should always fight for their place is dumb. These guys get 10 to maybe 15 years to play football. There is no reason to expect them to waste some on the bench when hundreds of football clubs exist and someone will play you.

Can we stop blaming everyone else as the reason he’s only just starting to get a decent run in a team.
I'd maybe stop blaming Everton managers for not using him if the players they used instead had a single success story among them but as that list is the likes of Bolasie, Walcott, Bernard and atrocities such as Sigurdsson out wide I really can't. Everton management handled him poorly full stop. And now that he's in the PL showing tha without a doubt he has the quality it is time to acknowledge that Everton FC screwed this one up.

He’s the same age as Richarlison, Calvert-Lewin and a year older than Davies all of who got plenty of game time under these same Everton managers. If he’d have shown his worth, he’d have been played more, no mistake.
The fact he couldn’t get a game ahead of Walcott doesn’t really stack up in favour of Lookman.

He might have improved now he’s gotten a bit older (shock horror), but us selling him when we did for the price we got was absolutely the right move. Him being frozen out in Germany might have been the kick up the arse his career needed.

Or he might still be crap, no idea.

I have an idea.

We paid too much for Richarlison to not play him. Dom is the perfect example of what we should have done. He was an objectively below average striker and we gave him 1700 minutes a season anyway and look what happened.

Bit of a re-write of history there

Dom showed promise from the off but he was constantly played out of position or isolated on his own up top depending on which manager was in control at the time

I agree that Lookman deserved more of a chance here, but let's not slander Dom with a fatuous statement just to try and win an argument
