Written off already,as was McCarthy,Alcaraz,Martinez,Gibson,Barry etc.
If Martinez signs him then that's good enough for me, as he appears to be a better judge of a player than any of the so called experts posting on this forum.
Martinez probably does have a better eye for a player than us, but it shouldn't stop people having an opinion. Otherwise the whole idea of a forum becomes a bit redundant don't you think?

I supported the McCarthy signing and the Alcaraz ones mate, Gibson i hadn't seen enough off to fully have a firm opinion on at the time we signed him and Utd squad players from the ferguson era where always hard to evaluate as they slotted into a very well oiled machine.

Apparently its a bad thing though to post a negative 'informed' opinion about a signing who incidentally we have only been linked to via the red tops

If you read any post i've made criticizing him you will see i have always stated that if we do sign him i will support him, it's just my personal hope we never do sign the lid as he is not sufficient caliber

Wasn't a pop at you mate sorry, there are many factors which need to be considered though.... A player can have all the skill in the world but not be happy at a club or he could be a lesser player who comes to a club with familiar people, settles quickly, starts enjoying his football and takes his game to the next level..... Of course it could go the other way and he could be complete garbage........just think people forming opinions on him before he's even kicked a ball for us ( if he does sign ) s a little premature.... A successful team isn't necessarily made up of 11 fantastic players.... If he fits the system then it's gonna be great.

But it's yet another so-so player who will eat up the wages of a so-so player we are or have offloaded in Heitinga.
Also, using the "Yeah but people said this about Gibson, McCarthy and him and him and him" as a defence isn't going to work every time because it just means at some point we will be right about him being crap.
Law if averages innit.... Keep saying it and it will be right sometime

If/When he signs i will support the guy until he proves he is not worth it. We don't know how he will turn out so an international player for next to nothing and wages which won't be that high is a good move for us. He might be terrible for us or he could do a job ala Kilbane/Naismith, remember we have first choice players ahead of him so he has to earn his place in the team, i am sure any critics of him would go quiet if he scored the winner on the 28th!

I'll admit i haven't a clue if he is any good or not. Never really watched him so i can't judge him on that, i simply see an international signing for free and when we are struggling with Injuries we can't complain. The other alternative s to sign a foreigner who sounds decent, just like Borini / Assaidi / Alberto / Aspas. Look how they turned out!

In my defence, I could see the merit of Gibson. I was supportive of the McCarthy transfer. I couldn't really argue with Alcaraz (plus he had a boss name and we've never had a Paraguayan before). I just think McGeady is a cul de sac of a transfer for us that will cost wages that could be better spent elsewhere.

No worries mate, If he does sign then i seriously hope i get vaulted for 5 years as he goes on to be the best thing since sliced bread like, sadly the best i can envisage is that he has a impact for half a season before the league susses him out, then again that could be enough if it nets us a few results etc, look at jelavich for evidence of what a player who sint good enough overall can do i suppose, a impact like that this Jan from any player we signed could be enough in itself to justify a otherwise gash player on the books for a few seasons after maybe

Typed in 'McGeady Everton' on Twitter to see what the general opinion was.

Never seen anyone be more 50/50.

Some say he's the bargain of the century for free, some saying it's the end of our top 4 hopes!!

So basically, nobody has a clue.

If he joins he joins.

Think i supported McCarthy, Barry and Alcaraz mate, was unsure about kone given his age and track record, Gibbo i honestly didn't know much about. I'm not one to slate a player unless i've seen them enough, nor am i one to blindly say a lids boss due to seeing him on FM or fifa etc like some do ;p

I just think that a lot of the links to McGeady are leftovers and easy stories for the papers based solely on Martinez having an interest in him whilst he was the wigan boss, and to be honest for wigan last year he would have been a decent signing

He will be neither mate, if he signs he will fall into the naismith, osman camp of could do something, more often frustrates camp of player, him arriving won't negatively impact us unless it stops us strengthening elsewhere due to his wage - any fee paid or thin, king that we have that position sorted so stopping us going after a player who could seriously improve the first team

A major gamble given everything that's been stated above. Someone stated that he was a superior version of Lennon which is a terrible comparison to make as the reverse is (at best) true.

Well said, the ability of forum fans to be so dogmatic without seeing lads in the Royal Blue goes back a long way (Carsley springs to mind). The business of having an opinion is fine but it's the sheer mind numbing unswerving BS without any knowledge that irks me.

But it's alright cos they come back a few months later saying "I've changed my mind !!!!!!" ... koff tools.

I get excited by boss FiFA players, I won't lie to you but it's not the basis for my opinion a lot of the time. Bodies in is usually a good thing, but a tricky winger with no end product further isolating our striker seems a bad idea to me. We've got a fair few players in a very small squad who don't pull their weight exactly already, another average signing wouldn't really contribute much.
