I'm all for doing what we can to protect our environment. I realized (after 220+ posts) that it just may have come across that I don't care about the environment and where our responsibilities lie.

My issue was the alarmism Gore used and several inaccuracies. That is all.

But enviromental protection IS an important issue.

I assume their thinking is that climate change will lead to more competition for resources, and so more strife (something which is already being borne out). Thus, encouraging action now, contributes to world peace.

Besides, it would have been a stranger choice if he'd won the science prize, eh?
