Yes you are correct £35M is not big money in the transfer market these days, however if Iwobi came on a free transfer and was getting a lot less wages than he is, he’d still be a very poor player.

It's big money to us. We don't spend that sort of cash regularly, so it's absolutely big money on the rare occasions we have to spend it and it's more important that we get it right. Richarlison aside, we have got it massively wrong.

Iwobi was on 50k, Kean was on less, DCL was on low 20s but that will have obviously improved now and Bernard was our highest paid player.

It´s annoying to see people shrug their shoulders at these fees. You want to be a club competing at the top you´ve got to get your transfers right. Liverpool have done it so well over the past 4 years and that´s why they´re winning the league. We´ve done it so badly and that´s why we´re languishing in the bottom half.

People need to stop taking notice of spotrac, according to them our wage bill is around 90m a year, when our accounts show its closer to 160m a year.

I think you get one signing like Iwobi every summer then a selection of players sub 20m. That´s what happened this year and the year before. So for me, he was the ´big signing´ this summer and he´s been an awful disappointment. As I said before, absolutely no impact.

But that is factually not what we are doing now. The only signing sub 20m the last few years is Delph.

WTF was the thought process when we brought this guy in? He's a perfect example of why we're so crap. A small fortune spent on supremely average to utterly garbage players. It's incredible that anyone at the club managed to convince themselves that Iwobi was ever going to make an impact on the club.
