2019/20 Alex Iwobi

He did do the same when he came on against Southampton back in December, from what I recall.

I always remember getting tickets with some mates and watching Arsenal play Cardiff. Beer and sun was nice. But watching there Spanish RB Bellrin? He had pace and at one stage he sprinted the whole length of the pitch and no one else could keep up with him and he was on his own around Cardiff defenders. Reminds me of Iwobi.
He has pace but he does nothing with it. He never seems to open up the defence or cause havoc in the box.
We may as well sell him and get Mr Bolt in. We would sell many more shirts and still have the same end product.

Iwobi isn't that fast mate. Of the thing's he's supposed to be doing raw pace is pretty far down the list.

I don't understand Iwobi yet. I hope we haven't signed him as a 'Utility player' and he ends up like Schneiderlin, Walcott or Tosun - i.e. looked decent at the time but just run down the contract with us. (not their fault)

I'm concerned about signings like Jesse Lingard - rumoured today. How do we motivate an ex Man U Player, who will not be the centre of attention here, to suddenly come good. Iwobi, Walcott, Siggy, Schneiderlin are similar types of signings.

PS i like Iwobi, i Just don't know wherehe is best and how to get the consistency?

Don't think he's arrived yet

Lol, great reply.
Wont lie this one depresses me more than any other right now as hes a constant reminder of..
A. How stupid we are/were in buying him.
B. How average we have become.
And the double whammy is we even paid a lot of money for the privilege of A and B.

It's mad cause I actually really liked him at Arsenal and think a few times posted about wanting us to sign him. Shows how much I know.

I do believe he has quality, think his decision making is pretty poor and he's devoid of any confidence. Seems to shirk responsibility and is a little afraid to take risks in case it doesn't pay off which is 100% the wrong attitude for an attacker.

I was a big fan of him at Arsenal to mate, i was delighted he signed. Hes been god awful here though. Full tilt hes a player, but we have seen nothing and the fit was always weird, but i decided to trust Brands on this one.

His performance against Spurs was shameful. Wouldn’t you have thought as an ex Arsenal player he’d want to put in a good shift against his old nemesis? Pretty sure he was just as bad against them in the home game earlier in the season. Not sure what his problem seems to be, he just doesn’t look very good for us. Maybe he was given assurances when he came here that he could be played more centrally when given the chance? that’s not gonna happen under Ancelotti any time soon with his preferred 4-4-2 set up. Anyway regardless of where he plays the minimum we expect is to put a shift in and work hard he hasn’t done that a lot of recent. Says it all when young Gordon has stepped in and been more effective.
In the home game versus he made the perfect pass, going back towards his own goal, straight to a Spurs player which gave away the goal. I can put up with poor players who at least have a go, this lad shirks any kind of grafting and makes it so obvious.

Except he doesn't like.

Also as bad as that pass was it wasn't exactly Stevie G giving Drogba a tap in. Holgate and Mina absolutely crap it at the back.

A previous poster noted it, he used to take players on and beat his man eassssssy, let himself down most times with his final ball and decision making. He seems so reluctant to run with the ball here... he gets it and immediately passes to the nearest player. I honestly think it's a confidence thing, he was looking like a real player when he first joined but has faded away majorly. I'd be happy to give him the Summer to get up to full fitness and back to his best - he's still young.

He runs awkwardly now I don't know why. It may be the injuries and it may be that he has baulked up so much in his upper body he now can't produce the dribbling or speed. He looks cumbersome when you compare it with some of the old Arsenal videos and he looks lithe, pacey and skillful.

I would like to see him play an advanced central role.
He just doesn't seem to be a winger. He does dribble down the line but you get the feeling that he has no idea what is to happen at the end of the run.
I think running directly at central defenders he could be a handful and maybe involved in the game more.

I do think he has been following instructions from CA and acting as a shield for Seamus, he has done this well but apart from the Norwich game he has shown nothing going forward.
