He played wide LEFT. We're playing him wide RIGHT. For a largely right footed player this is a completely different position that asks you to do different things and use different skills. I reckon if he played wide left he'd be both better and largely content.

And we're also giving him time at right back so there is also that.

He's slow and he can't cross. He's never a winger, right or left. Might be better in the middle, sure, but he's not as good as James or Gylfi so what's the point in shoehorning him in?

I dont have sympathy, he gets paid handsomely, so what hes having to play out of position, we have injuries
It isn't being played out of position alone, it is getting yanked off when it doesn't work like he did something wrong.

Also the money really is irrelevant. I don't know why people act like because footballers make a lot they shouldn't have feelings.

I think a funny thing being lost here is that a player said "I feel I play best in a different position" and a lot of Evertonians are going "nah mate you're definitely a right wing get your head down" like the dude is unaware of his own skillset.
No, what he did was have a pop at the manager because he doesn't get to play where he wants(like a spoiled kid) and most Evertonians think he should stfu and do what Carlo tells him.

He's not the fella we pay to decide who plays where and what we do pay him should be enough to keep him from airing his contrary opinions to the manager from social media.

As I've said a few times now he's better than Gylfi. Last year, today, tomorrow, he's better.

Gylfi basically plays as a striker when we have the ball he's so uninvolved in the build up. It is a massive problem that we largely ignore for weeks whenever he gets an assist or scores a penalty.

So what we saying on Iwobi, is that a professional paid more in a week than most of us earn in a year cannot pass .. definitely can’t cross.. can dribble on occasion... his particular set of skills is defined to one area of the pitch else he is a league 2 level player...

I wish most of us could be so particular about our set of skills in the workplace

I would argue that the assessment that Gylfi is better is dead wrong though. I mean Gylfi is doing the same things that limit how good we can be that he's always done but people seem to have fallen for it again.

You could argue if you had a case but you don’t. He’s crap mate. Take your tongue out of his bum hole. If he was half decent he’d be displacing Sigurdsson in the team. He isn’t. You’re basing your theory of him being a great No.10 because he had one decent game there nearly 18 months ago and you’ve read a couple of stats on transfermarkt. If we had a bum manager who didn’t have a clue about football fair is fair Ancelotti is no mug.

Iowbi will be moved on in the summer. Because he’s not good enough.

Sigurdsson carries more goal threat than Iwobi. There is no debate around that whatsoever. Iwobi's goals and assists since he joined have been poor to say the least.

We need better than both, but there is no comparison between the two in terms of goal threat.

This season he's played 130 minutes on the left and has an assist.
We ignoring the 70 minutes he played on the left against Leeds? The assist he got against Brighton was decent i'll give him that, it was a cut back cross in towards the pen spot but why can't he do that on the right with his right foot? instead he just looks lost instead

I do argue it, repeatedly. Sigurdsson stinks and holds us back. Every game he plays at #10 we are poor from open play aside from that Spurs cup game and even in that game our finishing was off that charts to keep us in it. If we took Sigurdsson off corners and penalties no one would want to see him on the team sheet ever again because he offers nothing at all.

Iwobi could do more. I don't know if he will, I've only seen it a few times admittedly, but I'd bet on that potential instead of the certainty of what Sigurdsson is going to do.

The question for me is do we need goal threat or do we need a midfielder. We have a lot of threat in DCL and Richarlison. We have next to nothing in terms of good midfield play. So that is my opinion really, that we need a guy to link things together and Iwobi at his best can do that better than everyone we have bar James.

Doing it on the right is a different skill.

And yes I'm ignoring the time he played left back.

I will not argue that Gylfi is a fantastic football player, but I would argue that the probability of scoring a goal is much greater when Gylfi is on the field versus Iwobi.
For better or worse, the last few months have seen us being tight at the back and looking to grab goals from set pieces, so Sigs deliveries are a key part of that kind of setup. We haven't played free flowing football for a long time.
