Ive got about 400 people on ignore mate, your talking to the wrong person.
Fair enough, I cleared mine recently because most of them were from years back when people were having goes at Ross for every single little thing he did wrong. I didn't post as much then but I reckon it would have resembled my Iwobi and Lookman posts. I guess Gueye too.

I'm very particular about who I put on ignore.
I reserve it for the real dipsticks !
One of the first times we interacted on here was you turning your nose up at Sarri because he hadn't won a trophy. That one worked out.

Honestly I'm taking dipstick as a compliment now.

There'll be a day where we're looking at our team and going "really wish we'd figured it out with Iwobi" just as we are currently with Lookman at times when we watch the team have no one to beat a man and create something.

I just don't understand this. He's not a RB or really a right sided player period so because he's not able to do well there he doesn't have the desire to be good? And beyond that he's at fault for not doing the thing he can't do to a satisfactory level?

It's an extreme example but if we decided Mina was our best option at RW or RB and played him there all season would anyone feel like it was his fault or it was his lack of drive to succeed that caused him not to? Because I feel like that is where we are right now.

I know we aren't supposed to criticize Carlo, and I'm not even saying Iwobi would have worked out otherwise because I really don't know, but he saw him as a right sided player and tried to make him that. It is a failed experiment.
The only position that Iwobi has played well at times in is wide on the right.
I cannot remember when he was last played on the left .
We have seen several players put into positions that would not be their first choice and generally they have done well.
Holgate,Coleman, Godfrey,Digne,Sigurdsson that I can think of have been asked to play different roles and they have generally done well.
If Iwobi is waiting to get a game on merit in his preferred position he will probably be retired first.

Yes, I do think he could do better when asked to play out of position, I think his recent post about playing in his preferred position was I'll advised.
I feel that the chances of him being moved on in the summer have become much greater and maybe Iwobi knows this or nay may even have been told this already.

This is the only game that Iwobi started in the #10 spot and played the whole time there. The next week we played an unchanged team but Bernard got hurt early and Gylfi came on shifting Iwobi wide. He's never gotten another chance.

I suggest everyone watch it but I'll summarize. It shows 6 attacks of ours in open play. Iwobi is important in 5 of them. A couple of times he transitions the play from defense to attack, the thing no one in our midfielders does currently, leading to decent openings. Once he plays a great final ball and another he plays Walcott into the box. He also gets on the end of a chance and misses it but hey, players miss chances.

It's a complete performance and when I say I think he has more than Gyfli it's because the number of games where Gylfi has done all of this is probably about 0 as he's not good at the progression side of midfield at all. Yes he more often pops up for assists and goals but when that's all you're doing you should do it better than someone who tries to offer more.

So that's my piece. If you all still think he should shut up and get on with it down the right than fine, but imo we're wasting him and as a team that has debatably 5 or 6 good players that's a shame.

I disagree.

I think the standards are too low if we're giving Holgate and Sigurdsson credit for moving positions and playing decent.

That isn't even this season.

If we were to play our players all in their preferred positions Iwobi would be at best third choice behind JR and Sigurdsson.
He is better than Sigurdsson!

I'm not doing this again but of course it wasn't this season as Carlo thinks he's a right winger. Nevertheless it is the only time he's played an entire league game centrally for us and he was awesome at it.

No, not really. Lots of talent but needs to bring more to be worth a start. I just don’t see why this social media post of all things has people wound up so much.

Think you’ve misunderstood me mate. As I said in the comment I don’t think he’s good enough at the moment either, and criticising him based on that is a-ok. I’m specifically talking about going at him for this social media post that literally has nothing to do with the club, making him out to be unprofessional because of it, and the hostility that seems to have unleashed.

For what it’s worth though, I do think he is a hard worker and I have been happy with this part of his game most of the season. It’s in the final third that I think he is way, way off where we need him to be. Crossing especially

Fair enough. Just me personaly its all about on the pitch.
He irritates me on it. I can take poor players to an extent. But couple that with his lack of drive.
We have an arsenal fan within our company and we chat once a week or so. Whenever i mention iwobi he just bursts out laughing. Its wearing thin.

Yeah I agree aside from the knows his role part, that's just crazy to me, the guy knows his job is to do next to nothing and bang some corners in.

I also think he can't play the wing so he can't play the middle is weird logic. It would be applied to forwards or defenders I don't think, but Carlo seems set on it. King will give us nothing.
I didn't say Iwobi couldn't play in the ten in fact he had his best game for us there last year and maybe he should have been given more chances there last season. But Silva only played him there a few times and when he left we reverted to a 442. I am not saying he can't do it and he probably would give us pace and ball carrying there but he wouldn't add the cutting edge there going from what we have seen over two seasons I mean when he played on the left he was drifting into a ten anyway. And he has a few goals and a couple of assists in two seasons so he is never starting there over Sig or James is he? Both produce more actual goals and assists. We need a ball carrier from deep(if Doucoure isn't used there) as well as another new creative midfielder for me. Iwobi for me was looking ok doing a job on the right, before his injury prior to that he had been so inconsistent and he looks physically awkward like he is carrying too much muscle in his upper body that he can't fully explode anymore. He thinks he is a left winger/ten for me but he isn't showing he deserves to play in either.

Gylfi has 2 goals and 1 assist in the league if you take set plays away. Gylfi offers nothing in the build up. I really genuinely think we'd be better off having Iwobi play there even if it means he gets 5 G+As for the season because Gylfi isn't adding that much more when you factor out the penalties and corners that someone else could easily take.

And Iwobi would offer us more ball carrying than Doucoure I think. Abdoulaye's runs are great but infrequent.
