2020/21 Alex Iwobi

Most of this is about the player seemingly saying he wants to play as a 10 though? Playing him a midfield 3 is more likely to help the team I'd agree, but the reports are he wants to play off the centre forward.
Either would be better for us than him on the right and Gylfi in the center if James is hurt.

This is going to set off a firestorm but Richarlison is the same player today that he was the day he signed here and Holgate and Godfrey aren't actually good yet so none of them are good examples. DCL is the only one.
Developing players doesn't mean we all of a sudden turn Godfrey and Holgate into Terry and Ferdinand. They've improved from where they were before us, league one and the championship respectively.

So whatever way you spin it you're completely wrong to say we have an inability to develop players. Not to mention that throwing up a 24 year old Iwobi as evidence of that claim is a farce.

You could tell how sincere Carlo was about wanting to know where he wants to play when he said he’d play him at 9 if that was where he wanted to play.

Not in a million years is Carlo playing him as a 9.

Yep. Laughing halfway through as if to say is this a serious question.
Biggest waste of two minutes at a press meeting.
Should have just asked him to name iwobis highlights in his entire career. Arsenal and Everton. That would have taken 10 seconds.

We have 5 or 6 good players in the squad, at best 2 of them were developed by us, but ok this is totally fine and will allow us to compete with sides who can sign their choice of world class players.

The only difference between Watford Richarlison and Everton Richarlison is his scoring droughts haven't been as long. He mad the Brazil side because he hit the net more but that was what he figured to be good at when he signed. Nothing else has improved.

Holgate yes is better than when he was 17 but also not good. Godfrey I don't know, he wasn't great for Norwich for me and he isn't good now either.

These opinions are separate of Iwobi.
Well not really mate.

These opinions just highlight why everybody laughs at them.

On Iwobi's preferred position

Really I didn't speak, I read the post that he did and I would like to know his preferred position! Usually, I want to put players on the pitch where they are comfortable to play. If he has an idea, I have to know, I want to know

I have to tell him to tell me, I am your manager, tell me where you prefer to play! If he wants to play No.10 or No.9, I can put him there no problem.
I can adapt the system

Sorry for re-posting your info mate @Ring master . Don't want to be taking your credit!

But ouch....

Sorry he made the Brazil team because he was scoring more for Everton you say?

Don't know about you but I would class that as improvement and evidence that we have aided his development.

What level are you holding Holgate and Godfrey to before you will deem them good players? They've both barely been out the team and we are having our best season in ages.

I reckon we could be sat in 2nd place and you'd be moaning that Holgate and Godfrey aren't De Ligt. They're clearly good players, where we are in the league now isn't a coincidence and is a testament to how good they are now which is all the proof of development you should need.

There aren't many players you can pick at random from League One or the Championship that can get a team challenging for top 4 in the prem after a year or two of development. Unless you think there are players that good just sitting around those leagues that will walk in and automatically improve a prem team.

I mean that's subjective at worst and over the top at best.

Us blues love to over-exaggerate how crap certain players that we don't like are.
I dont dislike him or infact many players that wear our shirt ( except Phil Neville of course) i want them all to succeed.

But lets not tip toe over the matter.
After 54 games and a top price paid out I expect something very much more than what I see week in week out.

The only question now is
Is he good enough ?

Answer
No....obviously not.

Exactly. For every Kean and Lookman, there's Holgate, DCL, Davies, and Godfrey.

Will always say...if they stick around, they'll get chances. If they don't they'll leave - Lookman and Kean gave us 12months and wanted out.

Again, what arbitrary subjective metrics are you using to determine who is or isn't a "good" player in your opinion?

I know you aren't using your eyes otherwise you wouldn't be here claiming Iwobi is one of these 5 or 6 good players we have.
