People saying the pass to Richarlison was simple yet only three players in our entire squad are capable of passes like that and Iwobi is one.

It's just so weird to say having a good season when it was a decent 20 minutes which included a bad miss. Overstating things a bit don't you think?

Included a few other errors as well.

Difference was his performance wasn't exclusively those errors.

He was OK. By his own standards, an "OK" performance for 20 minutes is a remarkable personal achievement. His actual personal best in an Everton shirt in a non-right-wing-back role.

But, as per the Sigurdsson rule, we all know that if he starts the next game, he'll be pure diarrhoea.

It never ceases to amaze me, (cos its gone on for decades), how footballers who are talented enough to be noticed, then tracked, then signed as a kid, then eventually make it into a squad like Arsenals, (famous for giving their lads a crack), dont quite make the leap from being a brilliant footballer to not being quite good enough as a PL player.

He is super talented, but isnt that great at Professional football. Proper head scratcher.
I still think there is a world where he's quite useful for a half decent side. Will it be us? I'd still say no because we're a bad fit but the things that got him where he was at Arsenal he still does sometimes but this side suits them less.

The pass he plays to Richarlison who then crosses to DCL is in his locker always. He's always been able to play those types of incisive balls even if it isn't the final ball but as a team we aren't setting up to play that way very much.

Thats the thing. Mad as it sounds, there is more to being a pro footie player than being a good footballer. Like Roy Keane, as a kid, didnt get picked for some Ireland kids team, so never got scouted by an English (the dream) club. Then, cos unemployment there was chronic, he got a place on basically a YTS football scheme to take kids off the unemployment register.

Signed for Forest for £47000 a few months later. Iwobie is a more talented footballer.

So what are you saying Iwobi doesn't do? Not sure I'm following

If he keeps that level as the minimum and scores round 8 league goals, we have ourselves a bargain.
You’re not asking for much, he did well for twenty minutes, we’ve seen him for the last two years,be grateful for those twenty minutes, doubt if you’ll see another decent twenty minutes from him in one game again, but let’s hope he can and under Benitez becomes a different player, a very different player!!!

gash is as gash does. He wasn't gash on Saturday.

20 minutes does not redeem his body of work. Every PL player can conjure up the odd moment or one good game out of five or they wouldn't have got this far.

Let's see him do it a few more times. if he does, then we have a discussion.

He made a difference when he came on and he will do the odd good thing here and there mate, but I don't think we'll be having that discussion.

I imagine the point is that Iwobi, as a naturally big, athletic lad with quick feet, probably looked like Ronaldinho when playing youth football, only to be found wanting against top professionals.

It could be why, at 25, he's never been a starter at club level.
Erling Haaland scored 9 goals in a youth youth cup game so if the point was players need to struggle at some point to make it, and I don't think it was tbf to the original post, it's a bad point. Lots and lots of players running counter.

If that's honestly what you inferred from my post, I'll leave you to it.

Just let me know if Haaland manages to come off the bench and do a good pass by the time he's 25.

I'll be honest I reallllllllly don't get the point either of you are trying to make. I mean I legitimately asked for clarity the first time and you've tagged yourself in and started talking about how he looked like Ronaldinho when he was 12 which has done exactly the opposite. I've got no idea now.
