It's just another example of people going massively overboard about how good/bad a player is. I don't know why we don't learn. He's never been as bad as people make out and he's not suddenly turned into a worldbeater. He's an adequate PL footballer and he's performing like one. It's good to see him working hard and looking like he's enjoying his football, but he needs to produce more and over a much longer period to move out of the 'happy to get rid' category for me.
It's probably fair to be intrigued by his work centrally though given he's always been pretty useful centrally and just not used there often enough. I mean I get there is a lot to prove but in this role there isn't that massive history of crapness the same way. You could give him the benefit of the doubt if you were inclined.

And no he's not a world beater, but I stand by my previous post that his last three games have been the best overall midfield play we've had in a stretch since Gana left from any individual. It is nice to see.

I think intrigued is a fair way of putting it. I've advocated playing him in a midfield 3 before, just for the sake of getting a third body in there more than anything, and he's doing well. I'm not entirely convinced on his ability to be effective in there in the long run based on what i've seen but of course he'll get the opportunity to prove me wrong.

A midfield three with a true #6 (and in time hopefully a better one than Delph) Allan and Iwobi is a pretty decent combo for me. I think that's got plenty of stability, ball winning and ability to get the ball into dangerous places. It would at the very least be a competitive midfield most weeks. That's not something we've had a lot recently.

The fella is utter garbo.

2 decent games in 3 years does not change that.

I cant knock the lad since Lanpard has come in. Been one of the better players most weeks.

Seems to revel in playing as an 8 in the middle of the park too. Up to him to start showing some consistency now though. He has all the tools.
It shows that a player finding a manager that really motivates him and a manager that can find a position in a team that really gets the best out of a player is so important and so difficult.

Iwobi looked like a waste of money up to January of this year, in the last number of weeks he looks like a bargain buy.

There is still a lot of work for Iwobi over a longer period of time but certainly the signs are promising and we do know that repeated managers have said how good he is to train and how good he is at training.

If he has been capable of the performances he's made over the last few weeks all along, then he's been having us over for the past few years.
