As much as Carlo didnā€™t believe it, his best use is in the middle. His numbers are lower because both FL and Dyche played him out side to cover for the deficiencies of our fullbacks and wingers. Iā€™m not saying heā€™s de Bruyne but put him at 10 and heā€™s got a handful more goals and assists. To his credit he hadnā€™t complained.

He doesn't have the awareness, calmness, or focus to be a CM.

Final 3rd he did well because he's an attacker using instinct and trying stuff. But he's not an actual CM who will get the ball in his own half, control our midfield, look to keep the ball ticking. Garner is an actual midfielder by comparison.

To me he's not good enough to focus all our creativity through and we're just making use of him as an athlete.

He's 27 and people are still arguing "his best position". That's pretty bad

You can't argue it when it's obvious his best position is down the middle, even if you don't rate him it's pretty obvious he is not a wide player.

Wants Champions League apparently.

ā€œI wonā€™t go to Saudi Arabia,ā€ Iwobi unequivocally stated in an interview with Brila FM. ā€œI feel like I have a lot to prove with my football, and I would like to play in the Champions League. It has always been my dream; I have played in it before, and I want to have a taste of it again.ā€

As discussions regarding his potential transfer unfolds, Iwobi maintains a focused approach, entrusting such matters to his agent. Emphasizing his commitment to the Nigerian national team, he remarked, ā€œI am here to do a job for my national team and to stay focused on football.ā€

Must have been hard for him watching City VS Inter and what could have been for him! lol

Whether you like the guy or not it would be another first team regular weā€™d need to replace within our already limited budget and 5m gets you absolutely nothing these days.
Yes thatā€™s the problem we have limit squad already and no money, definitely couldnā€™t replace him for Ā£5m but would be nice if we wasnā€™t in this position and at least get some money back Even if we covered a years salary, sorry state of affairs.

Iā€™ve said it before but heā€™s the Kenwright equivalent of the playing staff. A sign of the rot, overpaid, dreadful at his job, thinks heā€™s some sort of elite talent when results proved exactly how bad he is and just like Kenwright despite years of visible poor performance he still somehow has his defenders.

Heā€™s incredibly lucky to be part of such a broken football club that pay him so handsomely and are so willing to forgive his clear lack of ability. For every season heā€™s been here I would say 19 of the 20 teams in the league would hate to have him on their books, especially at what we pay. I donā€™t care how ā€œgoodā€ of a season he had last year, that fact remains the same, heā€™s dreadful.

Not an exciting thought, and not a high bar but one of our better players over the last 18 months (embarrassingly), doesnā€™t miss games and is versatile. But moved up here on his own and looks like he just stays on his own with the occasional trip to London to see his old mates.

Tough call. One year left, making all the familiar CL noises. Very different to Onana but canā€™t lose both in one summer, but then do we want a 31 year old Iwobi playing at BMD? We also donā€™t want to tempt Kev into considering the returning Gomes/Gbamin as anything other than bin-fodder.

Be great if for once a very average but seemingly nice polite player came out and just said, ā€œyou know what, I like it here, just give me Ā£50k a week on a 2 year contract and Iā€™ll play wherever you need me to, and the club can have an option to extend.ā€

I wonder what is happening with the contract negotiations ?
Earlier this year we were told talks were ongoing with Pickford and Iwobi and the feeling was that talks would be postponed until the relegation issue was decided.
Pickford has signed a contract , I think Iwobi needs to do the same or may well be sold.
I just can't from Iwobi's perspective figure out why he would sign here
