This is an important point.
Transfer fees are generally high this summer and goodness knows we need income from transfer activity.
We simply cannot afford to let the contract of a player who is one of the more saleable assets we have run down.

I keep reading that over and over in this thread. To who? Nobody is paying a high transfer fee for him.

I’ll be honest, I’d reluctantly be okay with him if he was willing to run like he did last week and start getting into some attacking positions and get in on goal. Too often he is in no man’s land in the attack which is why we run the play through him and it tends to stop with him. He isn’t the only one guilty of poor movement to be fair but he has probably been the guiltiest of the bunch.

I don't think anybody said anything about a high transfer fee.
He is an established premiership player, is probably more highly regarded by those outside of the club than by Evertonians.
He is at a good age and I think that clubs would look at him at a value of somewhere betweem 12 m and 20m.
I think the manager will want to keep him but I don't believe we can allow him to run his contract down.

The real activity in the market will happen as we all know in the last week. If a contract is not agreed before then I could see him leave.

our saudi friends are buying everyone

they will probably sign matt ritchie from newcastle for 50 mil next week
I haven't seen all the moves, but the majority have been talented players with a decent pedigree.

Not useless crappers.

And he's already stated he's not open to a Saudi move, he wants CL football.

As I keep saying, fairly confident he signs a new contract in the next few weeks, cos that's what this club does
