Both sides are actually correct.

He is both crap and one of our better players.

Sums us up really.
The funny thing is even if this was true, he doesn’t make us a better team. Bolasie had so many line drive crosses directly to Lukaku’s feet and that didn’t make us a better team. Our league finishes with him around tell the whole story. These are the players we need to rid of and never sign again. Too many attacking players that offer no bite. He slows the game down and offers no direct threat for an attacking player. That and he is due the occasional hospital pass in the midfield that leads to goal. He is certainly up there on our list of issues. We are anemic whenever he is in on the wing specifically.

I’ll make this one point. Notice how Dobbin the second he came on was getting to the byline. I’m not saying he is the answer, but just getting into those positions and his crosses offered infinitely more threat than Iwobi cutting to the edge of the 18 and firing a weak footed cross in. That is what Iwobi needs to be doing.

Every team does this except for us. It is a more dangerous position for a backline to deal with and harder for them to get the ball out. Whether we need more pace out wide or a working fullback system- it needs to be addressed.

And one more thing. We are really missing McNeil on both ends of the pitch. If you needed a gauge to see who is more effective on the defensive side of the ball between he and Iwobi, look no further than last weekend. His side was absolutely rinsed and part of the problem was him.

I think it is true but you are still right that he doesnt make us any better. Thats kind of the issue.

Our list of issues as as wide as it is long. Other than PIckford and possinly McNeil there is nobody else I would even be bothered about leaving. (I don't hate Tarkowski, Garner etc but they have hardly set the world alight here either.)

Oh and Branthwaite but we cant miss what we have never had.

My issue with the Iwobi praise lies more with the fact that he is in some way helping the team (which he isn’t). Players like Iwobi are left wide open and dominate the ball for a reason- nobody respects them.

They know there is no shot in hell Iwobi is beating you into the box or at the byline. What is the best way to defend Everton? Leave Iwobi wide open on the wing, let him do a dance, wear baggy pants, cut back all the way to France and deliver an absolute crapper of a ball with his weak foot on the edge of the 18 to the other team. Every now and then let him have a shot.

Iwobi being so involved and others not touching the ball is not a good thing. It tells me that Iwobi is not being efficient or direct and setting up his teammates with the majority of his time spent on the ball despite dominating possession. And the stats that favor him fall apart because they don’t lead to goals. We need more direct players.

Im gona call it already. If we lose to wolves its because we missed iwobi. Utter sh!te coz he doesnt ever win us games anyway.
But those shouts are coming. Guarenteed.

Played every game last season as we racked up a whopping 36 points and won 8 football matches. But if we fail to win on Saturday it’s because we were without this talismanic figure.

Respectfully when did we actually threaten from it?
