That's a great read @Eggs thanks for posting ;)
Nice quiz question in there too = The name of the racehorse owned by Alex Young and Alan Ball

..no problem, I really enjoyed it too. Mrs Young confirming that Catterick wasn't keen on Alex was interesting as was the early friendship with Ron Yeats.

Just a few words but very touching, something in my eye here.

The goal against Spurs when he seemed to just stop time, that virtually sealed the League stands out.He scored 22 that season and Vernon 27,what would a strike partnership like that be worth in today's market?
Talking to my older brother last night, we reminisced on the two championship teams the 1963 team on which players are left - 1963 - Tony Kay {who was banned for life wrongly} Johnny Morrisey Derek Temple - - squad player Colin Harvey?
1969 - Tommy Wright - Ray Wilson { ill with alzheimer's} John Hurst, Colin Harvey Alan Whittle Joe Royle Jimmy Husband Tommy Jackson Roger Kenyon ?
I have never seen any play so admired as the Golden Vision the banners in the Glawdys street - the adoration of what a special footballer he really could be, he admits himself some games passed him by - but to see the skill he had as a small centre forward his speed, his artistry, his ability to out jump taller centre halfs - a true Legend aided by the great Royston vernon as someone pointed out what a deadly striking duo they really were RIP the GV and family commiserations.

Meagan, Gabriel, Kay, Bingham, Morrissey and Temple are still with us thank God (Harvey didn't make his debut until 63-64)

I hate that Big Yellow Taxi. It will come for Me and for us all, I for one will do a runner without paying.

Pretty Much...I'd have to be very picky to even mention Gerry Humphries...

Oh, you missed Gerry Humphries - call yourself a blue

Meagan - slide tackle? I think you meant Alex Parker.

Mick would be the first to tell you he was too slow to do that.

I was a lad in short trousers Alex Parker was on of my late fathers favourites yes your right he was the master of the slide tackle Gerry humphries yes he scored a wonder goal did he get a championship medal ? But he was a squad player forgot Andy Rankin too in the 1969 side?

Don't know about you but did it seem a tad full that day, I've never been in a crush like it before or since - no where to go but into the wall.
I was in the boys pen (which was always a crush).A bit off topic but then we are in reminiscing mode, the Inter Milan game was the most packed crowd I can remember.

I didn't think Rankin played a game that season
So I checked - he didn't
Frank Darcy played a couple of games as Sub.
I also thought that Gerry H. played and scored a worldie Vs Leicester - but that was the season before...played Vs City.

Memory eh, thank God for the 'bible'
