We need certain things that we can best get from a veteran player: leadership and backbone, like Delph was supposed to provide before he turned out to be a child; known commodity instead of potential; the ability to get some wins right now. I believe that our offseason is made more difficult by the stink we have on us from the post-shutdown games. As of the shutdown, the hammering by Chelsea notwithstanding, we were near the top of the form table and I bet we looked like a club where players wanted to transfer. That display of ineptitude on the back nine makes us less attractive. We need someone to help us put up a good first half, now, to reinforce the narrative that Everton under Carlo is a good place to play. We have a decent group of defenders, we have attackers that have shown they can score, if we could just link the two with something other than turnstiles and traffic cones we might have something.

Along those lines I fully believe that without that glorious win over Chelsea under Dunc, that had Goodison shaking to the rafters, Carlo doesn't sign here. Recency bias.

Can't wait to hear this. Please inform who these players are , and how you know (without personal knowledge of them) how there is less risk.
