Every system works if you have the right personalGet him in on a 3 year deal. Looks a machine. Will still need two other CM's next to him - 442 doesn't work anymore in the modern game.

Been no real successful 442 teams in the past 10 years+. Even Southampton's looks a little bit more fluid but to neglect just 2 in a midfield when majority of teams have three is a big no-no.
Just my opinion lads. No ITKness here.
He's not suppose to be a game changing player, he's suppose to be the engine in midfield? he's mobile and likes a tackle, looks to be a clever player which our squad is clearly lacking. We need bite in midfield, id hope that another midfielder would be brought in for creativity. It's still a no from me. I just don't think he's enough of a game changing player to sign for 30m at age 29.
I'd say age is a bigger issue if someone needs athleticism to be at their best. He's not suppose to be a game changing player, he's suppose to be the engine in midfield? he's mobile and likes a tackle, looks to be a clever player which our squad is clearly lacking. Age is not an issue when he is clearly an athlete.
I used to disagree with that shout until recently when I noticed everton, Burnley and southampton all play 4-4-2. All then clubs are currently 10th, 11th, 12th. So I agree the formation just doesn’t work in the long run.
Diego Simeone agrees with this Browns.
The way formations are written in numbers is failing to catch up with the game too. The best example is the RS who play a 4-3-3 when you right it out but in possession often end up in kind of a 2-1-4-1-2 because of how their fullbacks push on and Firmino drops off. Bayern are another one who push the fullbacks way up so saying they're playing 4-2-3-1 is kind of off. Then you've got City who will sometimes push the fullbacks on but also have them drop in as CMs or CBs. Just using the numbers misses a lot.Not sure about that. Formations come in and out of fashion.
442 was the standard for a long time.
Then everyone started playing 451
And a few years ago everyone went 352 after Conte had so much success with it.
Wouldnt write any formation off completely, as others have said, any system can work if you have the right players to play it
Its not an argument/fight mate just sharing alternate opinions on a forum. We sold Gueye for 27M who was 29 and our best midfielder, since then we have had no engine. We need a midfielder for the now, Carlo want's results now.. If Allan was 25/26 we would probably be priced out, I always look to Distin when we bought him and people thought we were wasting money on a 30 year old but what a player he was for us.I'd say age is a bigger issue if someone needs athleticism to be at their best.
Regardless when I say game changer that can still apply to a midfield engine. I mean someone like Pogba as an example does exactly what you said and also takes your squad up multiple levels if you sign him. Anyway I don't really want a fight here I just don't see him being worth the money that we'd have to shell out when you consider a great scenario is he is at his best for 3 or 4 years and even then he's not fetching anything when it is time for him to go.
