I’d take Barry Horne now over DaviesDo people on here just expect a player will forgot how to football once they turn 30?
Nailed on that Big Al snaps his cruciate in a first day of training accidental collision with Gbamin. Both midfield grocks, grocked.
This to me is the problem with just signing Allan in CM. We’ll need to rely on Delph staying fit to act as back up Allan and Gomes or play in a 3 with them.I did laugh at this but then had a moment of depressing clarity when I realised that Gbamin won't be fit for Allan's 1st or even 100th day of training
I get that, pretty much all of it. I just think, at 25, he is going to want to move somewhere stable for the next 4 years. I could see him at about 40k at a Spanish club on a 4 year deal tho.
I'm not usually one for getting heated over transfers but our midfield is so bad that I'm desperate for this lad to get here and then we need another.
You are more than likely right, everything we have should go on strengthening the middle.Think we'll only be getting one in unless we ship out 2-3 of Davies, Delph and Sigurdsson.
Yup. I think we’ll need to clear out the existing crop of CMs to accommodate another signing. Would happily get rid of Delph and Davies to get another good CM in. I don’t think Sigurdsson is considered a CM within the squad. Was just forced into playing their due to injuries. Would sell him too like! You are more than likely right, everything we have should go on strengthening the middle.

He has to play as a 10 for sure. If we have Allan, Gomes and can get Delph and Gbamin fit for any length of time then we have options. I know Delph seems to have a bit of an attitude but he did play ok in a few games. Would love another physical specimen in there who can win the ball though.Siggy was definitely only playing there due to injuries, which made him look even worse. If we are keeping him (whos buying him really?) then he has to play in a role where he is ahead of two midfielders.
Yeah I think in principle it's a good point.
Issue is that outside of the 'big' 3, there's probably only 3-4 teams in Spain that could afford to be paying a player of Sandro's quality that much mate, that's the issue.
Sevilla, Villarreal, Sociedad, maybe Athletic Bilbao – and he isn't good enough for any of them unfortunately. Valencia have been ravaged by the pandemic and are having to sell most of their team.
So the only way we're gonna get him off the books permanently this season is if a Prem team is willing to take a punt on him or he's willing to drop by 70-80% in his wages, maybe more.
Just to put it in perspective, Allan is reportedly on about £35k per-week at Napoli (€38k give or take).
Outside of the very biggest clubs in Europe, it's really only the Prem that pay mental wages for squad players.
Add Allan and then add someone who can actually create things and we might move up the table.

Purely on guesswork and looking at Napoli under Ancelotti we'd have these options:
??? / Allan / Gomes / Iwobi
Walcott / Delph / Sigurdsson / Gordon
Walcott / new signing down the right
Allan/Fabian Ruiz type centre setup
Iwobi/Gordon coming inside when on the ball
