His best games were for Palace i think when they used him as a forward simply to hold the ball up

You know your best days are behind you when you are going from Chelsea to Palace and they are trying to accommodate you by being creative with your role - he should have been a fantastic player …it just didn’t work out
 

Think at all costs we need to keep him this season at least........ I can only see him growing further this season.

Keep Pickford, love to see Branthwaite stay and get some game time, Onana and Garner in the midfield and hopefully a fit DCL (ideally if not, we bring someone else in).

We then start to get a real young (except for Pickford but still relatively in GK terms) spine of the team which we can build around.

OK if we underperform next year and he wants to leave then with further improvement 60m +.

This is a well worn transfer strategy by us. Generally starts with dropping little nuggets in a press saying a player wants out, is home sick or wants to play at a bigger club. Fans turn against them, hail selling our best players as brilliant deal - as they dont want to be here. Club pockets the money, doesn't reinvest, we get worse. Then start again.

Just say no.
 
What do we think his absolute ceiling (fully developed to his fullest potential) is? £90m??

Someone offers us north of £65m we should bite their hands off and invest in 2 or 3 players with the same potential as Onana’s was at Lille. Then you mitigate for things like injuries etc by spreading your outlay.
