Thought he and Garner played well for the most part, it was an area of the pitch we were better than west ham

Not sure, thought Alvarez was outstanding for them even before his goal.

They signed him for 35m from Ajax so in the modern day that is a bargain given his age and experience.

Onana younger but I'm not quite seeing the 60-70m potential just yet.

We had the front foot for most of the game and won possession in the middle often with Onana bringing it out impressively a few times. As usual it was our final third play that let us down. Garner and Onana or Gueye when he plays are not the issue. Alvarez had a good game but no more so than Onana, in fact if Alvarez put the same performance in an everton shirt he'd have a load of self loathing tubby da's screaming how crap he is.

In 2 years Onana will be playing champs league and the Dino's on here can claim it was because of their constructive criticism

There are far too many poor passes that you wouldn't get from someone at the top level of the game. I could be absolutely wrong but I never see Onana dominating games in the likes of the knock out rounds of the Champions League.

Which Defensive midfielders generally are "dominating games in the likes of the knock out rounds of the champions league" ?

I just never come away from a game and think he's destined to be starting for a top team. It's similar to how we all thought Fellaini was one of the best around when actually he struggled massively when he made the step up.

I've seen people saying he was awful, a waste of space, the next Pogba. The 'pogba'; comparison is totally unwarranted and a bit cringe tbh.

The hate he gets actually makes me a bit embarrassed. Will be the same lads who thought lukaku was lazy, stones couldn't defend or Gordon had no lungs. Its painfully obvious he's going to be a quality footballer. That we dropped points in a game we dominated and blamed the center mids is exposing certain fans lack of knowledge.

In two years, Jesus, what about now?

Hate ? Try Truth.

I don't have to mate.

The stats say he's brilliant at winning the ball and keeping hold of it.

That's what a 6 does.

You expect these kinds of players to score 400 goals a game when their job is to break up play and give it to the attacking players.

Unfortunately for both you and me, said attacking players are semi pro level so the player you hate has to try and do more than he should to compensate.

And then you moan that he can't do it.
The stats? Oh well that changes everything!!

Do notice he gives away possession a lot with forward passes in the final third but think this is much to do with static movement in front of him and lack of overlapping full backs than anything else.
He’ll become a very good player in a better team I think. Be surprised if he’s here come next season.

Yeah actual physical data.

And that's just adding to the fact anyone with eyes can see he's our 3rd best player.

Stats aren't the be all and end all of judging a player. I'm just using them to back up my opinion.
My eyes keep telling me that he is still strolling through the game with plenty of poor passes to go with the good ones and still going missing game after game after game. His first half performance on Saturday was very poor.
