2023/24 Amadou Onana

Michael Balls article insinuating that Onana 'hides' in games, doesn't pass forward etc is laughable, 13 passes into the final third on Saturday, 10 more than our attacking midfielder.

Still fuming about this lad, in that article he says he hides in the same breath as saying he's the one who comes to collect the ball off the backline.

Pick one, Michael. Pick one!

Keep this lad. Value will go up as he continues to establish himself. He is still very young

Big fan of his. But for arguments sake if we could get £80mil+ and could bring in 3 u21 high potential players with the money...lets say their value 'only' increased by £10mil each.

We'll have generated £110mil in value less his fee and clauses & improved the team...hopefully.

Im in 2 minds whether we keep Onana depending on the fee and who we could bring in.

Would you trust Kev with £80m?

Its nice to think that, with the assumption we could easily sell him for 80m+. Who knows, maybe he will have a stormer for his country as well as catching the eye in helping to keep us up.

But what if he forced the issue, wanted to go, and the best we could get was 50?

Or if the worst happened and an unthinkable relegation forced the issue further and we had to sell, and could only get say 35?

Saying that, would prefer Onana went than Branthwaite. Be nice if we weren’t effectively forced to sell our good players to the rich clubs.

He's brought in Onana...also some of the players whove been linked have seemed ideal. But weve not had the funds to compete.

If anything it would be nice to see Thelwell have some cash to splash.

It comes down to who we replace him with of course. But we cant stand still which keeping him may leave us with.

Hes the starter at DM for Belgium so his value should increase.

Has been the starter for Belgium for a while, which is why I said maybe he will have a stormer for his country. So yes, we should get a good wedge, but dont assume were going to get ridiculously HUGE money for him. Its Everton.

He's almost guaranteed to be sold in the summer, half the 'fan base' don't like him anyway, he can do no good in some peoples eyes even though he improves the team. I'm convinced some people would prefer a Kalvin Phillips headless chicken type player over him.

Value goes up with experience, value goes down as the time left on his contract shortens. He won’t sign another here based on his agents claims about the demand for him.

Suspect the drops in value will be faster than the increases given he hasn’t really set the world alight (regardless of what people think of his potential), particularly if we are seen to be desperate sellers again. Multiple clubs wanting him this summer and auctioning up the price is sadly what’s best for all parties, assuming Kev doesn’t blow the money on crap.

The fat da's would be screaming at Phillips the moment he passed the ball sideways, a quick look around and you can see a few of the 'Onana is lazy' were Tom Davies fans which should tell you everything you would ever need to know on their understanding of CM.

Assuming we can spend any of it
