Its a fun game this...

Patterson is bad (Garner with no defensive positonal sense as a RM and alongside Keane or Tarkowski making errors. Weird narrow full back setup ny dyche).

Onana is bad (Camera focused on him only and made into a short video showing he was clear motm - performs well and still slated. Next to Gana and behind Doucoure who have no positonal sense or technical ability).

McNeil is bad (Positional and tactical tweak and then a revelation).

Alot of players we have are good. People just dont see the wood for the trees.
I thought Gana was given a proper bum steer on Saturday. For some bizarre reason we constantly gave him the ball when he was heavily pressed by the Wolves offensive players. We know he's limited in terms of technical ability and creativity so why give it to him under pressure.... virtually every ball to him was bordering on criminal. His skill is in breaking up the play of the opposition not being the fulcrum of our team. I always consider him as an insurance policy to protect the back line, so I suppose that's another square peg in a round hole.
Doucoure has a brilliant engine, a gut full of endeavor but isn't silky enough for the role he's asked to play. All in all its a fait acomplis as a result of pathetic recruitment over the years.

No he doesn't, you're right.
However he does choose how he reacts and plays.
From what others are saying, he has the potential to be class, and a leader. He should be grabing games by the scruff of the neck and challenging those around him. If he is that good, why is he not doing that. Demand the ball, dictate the play. You can clearly.see we don't have anybody like that. If he is that talented, why is he not doing it?

Let's compare him to another youngster, Bellingham. Went to a different country and took ownership, pushed himself, excelled, then goes to another country and is playing in a completely different position, yet is taking charge and being the leader.

Now Onana is not Bellingham, and im nkt saying he is that level, but it is a decent comparison. Onana could do more and seek the ball and be the leader of the team. He chooses to coast. He chooses not to push himself
Sorry Woomy, that's an unfair comparison. Bellingham is a unique talent much in the same way Rooney was - nobody in that age bracket comes remotely close to being as naturally talented as he is. The top and bottom of it is that no young player with potential dominates games consistently, and less so those that are playing in an abysmally poor, struggling team. I think it's a bit misguided to say he chooses not to do this and not to do that on the basis that the Manager tells them what their role is and defines where and how they operate within his structure. We know Dyche isn't a lover of young players and isn't the type of manager who encourages creativity and silky skills so that has a huge bearing on how players fit in.
It's a personal point of view, but we need to show players like him and Branthwaite patience if we want to see the best of them. With the Club being in such a negative position all the time and under pressure to stay in the league its extra difficult a) for young players to perform freely and b) for the manager to allow him to do that. It's a consequence of us being a shambolic mess unfortunately.

We have some players that deserve better than a team constantly fighting relegation battles. But how much better than that are they? Probably none of them would warrant a regular starting place at a club that finishes in the top 8 right now.

So very true.

Not only is such alleged behaviour from so-called 'supporters' shameful and potentially criminal, it's also hardly likely to inspire the lad to reach his full potential.

Just utterly moronic.
I'm beginning to think that there is an element of our fan base that is utterly toxic.

It's only a small minority of idiots, but it's a very loud minority.

Lazy player, lacks intelligence, poor touch, shot, acceleration, poor in the air. Only thing he does good is the odd back tracking tackle. Pathetic goals and assists stats.

If someone is offering us money then we need to get rid. He’s worth a packet of space raiders and a twix.

Our best player today and that’s not a high bar. Set up our one chance and he didn’t even know anything about it. Says it all really about our performance so far.

I'm becoming more convinced that he thinks he's "world class." However, his skill set so far, suggest he's nowhere near that level.
