American Food

It's all in what you're looking for. It's interesting living in a place that held 4 million people when I was a lad and has over 20 million today.

Just giving a hint at what you'll find if you venture past the tourist venues. What you'll learn about Florida from your typical vacay is something like what you learn about Liverpool on a Beatles tour or the standard Kopite haj through Castle Greyskull. Look behind the Potemkin village and you'll find the real people who aren't working for your $. We're friendly (mostly) and can hang whether you like craft brew or PBR by the 12-pack. Either will work with good 'cue or a fish fry or some garlic crabs or...

Here's what I mean.

Mrs just had Cajun fish with cheesy grits for brunch.
Just down right weird. Bowl of corn meal sludge with a bit of blackened fish (grouper iirc) basically.

where (what city, etc) did you eat this? usually it's shrimp and grits. not seen grouper served with grits, but i would eat that, although might simply prefer a lemon sauce and risotto rather than eat it blackened on grits.

St Pete’s Beach, FL - Pass-a-grille to be precise. They did have shrimp & grits too but I had a dodgy shrimp in another establishment the other night and it’s put her of the shellfish! ?

Usually you get decent sea food near the coast. I can't speak for the food in Florida but I generally think we have the best food in Louisiana, and so am interested in the imitators. Enjoy your stay and I hope all the rest of your food is great (or at least not memorable for the bad reasons).
