Stop with the worship for him it's embarrassing. People are acting like he's some grandpa figure who lives far away but still sends us Christmas cards reminding how of much he loves and thinks about us. The man walked without a backwards glance, I don't blame him but why are people still acting like he's some hero?

If you're not here with us then you're against us, all successful clubs show this mentality. The over-emotional, 'as long as the RS lose' is one of the biggest things that's held us back for decades now.

Cos he was The One. And it got Evertonned

One of the most decorated managers of all time. I'm much happier with our fans worshipping him than the below average turds we've had stinking this club out for the last 30 years.

- Ex-players who achieved nothing while here yet given cushy jobs...
- The phrases "he gets us" and "at least he puts the effort in"

These are more symptomatic of what's held us back in my opinion. You have said we should be ruthless and he's against us because he left, but then bemoaning that he did just that and left a shambles of a club that is skint to return to a team where he had unfinished business, has just completed the 5 top league trophies and is in another cl final. That is what we should be aspiring to.

I don't think people quite realise just how good Ancelotti is at his job. He knows how to win, and will find ways to do it that no one else can.

But I am still pretty sad with how things ended with us. Yes it was Real Madrid, and we are crap, but it left a bad taste. It was pretty much certain we would have a bad season the minute he ditched us.

This. Fella is one of the most decorated managers of all time for a reason. But I don’t like the guy, I can’t like him for doing us dirty in the way he did. I know he may well have been sold a bum steer by our owner, but still.

With respect, and Im not one to speak for Everton fans, I dont think that's what it is and I dont think you should begrudge him for making a decision to leave considering what was being offered. He's always regretted not having the 5th league title. What he's doing is acknowledging people that took a chance on him.

Yeah but Liverpool and he said Everton, top blue him once Everton has touched you

ill forgive him if wins the final,
i sort of understand why he left and it hurt at the time
but least he never stuck the knife in like moyes did.
sad the way it ended and it looks like hes trying to make up.
the mans a winner which is more than can be said of bill and his boys!

What do people honestly think he should have done? And I’m talking realistically here not pie in the sky “be loyal to our club” nonsense.

My honest view? Those sort of jobs would be on the table for him whenever he wanted them. He’d not done much for us yet Real Madrid still came calling, imagine if he’d actually delivered some success, it wasn’t like a once in a lifetime offer like United offering the job to Moyes, I understood that one because Moyes might never have had that level of club offer to him again (he hasn’t since). Carlo knew he could walk back into any club he wanted at any point.

I would have like least him to give us another season or two, get the squad he wanted, give it a good go, and then if it’s sent working give the club some notice he’d be leaving so they could plan for his succession.

I don’t blame him for going to Madrid, I just don’t like the manner in which he did it, whatever people say it left us in the lurch.

Was this actually possible given what happened and what we subsequently know? In a way I’m glad Benitez wasn’t given lots of funds but if that’s really all the money we had then I’m not surprised Carlo left. Do I think he would have stayed even with an open cheque book? I’m doubtful as I’m sure you are. But in regards to how it actually played out it’s not surprising he left.

Also I completely agree that even if he had another season here and it wasn’t the best that he’d still find it easy to get a top job. But at the same time there was definitely a narrative forming that he was ever so slightly on the wane as manager. Dismissed at Bayern and then Napoli and then he’s come to us and had a mixed time. Money aside, I highly highly doubt managing Everton was ever part of Ancelloti’s planned career trajectory. Another middling season at Everton and who knows what would have happened for him.

I think we just have to face it that the Madrid offer came at the right time for him and the wrong time for us. He can end the season with a league and champions league double. I just can’t begrudge the man.

A crass analogy a friend of mine used is that people seem to portray his decision as though Carlo ditched his homely, supportive partner for the first attractive woman that flashed him a smile. When in reality he left a a toxic basket case on a bad path for another basket case but a much more attractive one with the lots of potential. People will dislike what he did because of how it’s hurt our club, but objectively speaking he did the completely rational and correct thing.

I don't think he did us dirty. We'd all have done the same. He came to us in good faith and made all the right noises regarding being in it for the project, etc. If his dream job didn't come up he wouldn't have jumped ship, but it did, and he did. Cannot put any blame on him at all. Is he the only manager in the last few years who didn't waste hundreds of millions of pounds on crap players for us as well? Legend.

He wasted £45m on Allan and Doucoure.
