You don't "reward" players for being crap by selecting them regardless. I know we have almost nothing there but playing Smalls or another youth lad goes a long way to say that effort is needed for every match. How many times have we said over the years that a player is terrible consistently in a match yet he gets picked every single week to play? It sends a TERRIBLE message to everyone else that being poor in a match isn't going to matter regardless of anything else.

This is why I couldn't be a manager as I'd have been done for 11 cases of assault. You have a chance to do something special yet they show absolutely zip and make a side that hadn't won for 11 games look like prime AC Milan.

0 points out of 6 from Newcastle is gut wrenching and might well cost us Europe.

My only hope is that lot went through a period of giving as good as they get against the top sides then would throw it away against Hull etc. If we are on the verge of that then I can cope, else I'm going to struggle to watch.

The main thing for me is team spirit here. I felt Siggardsons appearance resulted in Doucoure not chasing the ball down. For me some of the players looked like strangers out there today with the captain on the pitch. For me even though the performance wasn’t there on Wednesday the put yourself on the line attitude was there. We almost went through the motions today which is the most disappointing thing. I honestly think Godfrey and Holgate would have made a big difference today it wouldn’t have hurt us from an attacking point of view based on that. We could have slotted Holgate in the middle and Godfrey right back and that would have given Doucoure and Rodriguez and Iwobi more of a shield to attack. But there were a lot of poor performances today. Everyone but James was waiting for it to happen and you can do that against any team in this league.

Correctly absolutely scathing.

He obviously deserves the time and patience to sort it out because of his track record, but my bigger concern is it's not like this performance is out of the blue. We've had a load of lethargic looking performances this year, this was just particularly terrible. Sort it out Carlo.

I don’t know if you can stop performances like that , not without changing the players. We don’t have enough pace to get up and down the pitch fast enough. So when we decide to push up we leave ourselves exposed and are very easy to counter against . This means we have to sit back and play slow , boring football that easy to defend against and hope we sneak a goal. Our ball retatntion is absolutely shocking , Coleman , gomes , davies , and to a slightly lesser extent iwobi, literally cannot pass forward. Coleman cannot cross either while siggy , davies and Andre cannot tackle , press , score or create from CM and have no pace and I mean are the slowest Cm pairing I can remeber seeing in the league. Richy can’t pass , cross and for now can’t shoot. His decision making is poor and he’s been playing crap for pretty much the whole season. Carlo can’t trust these players they all may be ok as a squad player but they can’t all be in the same squad as they’re crap. This is before you consider our gk which I’m not going to go into now . Our cf only scores guilt edge chances and if you don’t give him crosses then he becomes non existent. James is the only actual footballer I’m that squad , the only one that looks forward and the only one that has any sort of footballing brain when it comes to attacking. Dacoure is the only one with enough energy , pace ( and he’s not rapid by any means ) and athleticism to play Cm . Keane , Godfrey , Mina are good enough at defending but apart from them we are bang average boarderimg on crap.

Them comments are strong. Should be ashamed if you’re a player and your attitude is getting called out by the manager.

Should always stick with a winning system. By now he should be well aware that we need to stick with the back four that works.

A good point but there were murmurings of negativity on here Wednesday. I think he should have at the very least kept the back 4 unchanged because it has been a solid unit. He will no doubt have noted this today. As for Siggardson he opted for freshness but he’s worse than Gomes at defending the box. He’s ok defending higher up but Swansea have done an absolute number on us for £45 million

Richarlison aswell comon, he’s not playing his best but he’s a game changer on his day. That is unfair to him

Digne is still our best left back, I love Godfrey but he can’t be housed there permanently unless Digne works on being a winger

At the moment with the midfield issue it’s the best fit.

troibke is when he drops them their replacement is exactly the same . The. If he goes off and tells them they’re all stealing a living he will “ lose the dressing room “ and he’s knackered. You need players with the right mind set , winners or at least people that hate lowering amd I mean really hate losing. Someone like Roy Keane type mentality , even Cahill had that about him and it makes a massive difference. Pride in ones performance etc. when you have senior players like Coleman , siggy, gomes , delph you’re on a hiding to nothing.

No. He got head tackled today. His teammates did nothing and the ref couldn't be arsed. Everyone is worried about how many games he will play in a season? The team needs to look out for him. If he was named Tiago or De Bruyne the kicking in he got in the first half would have been a scandal.

Well said Shelvey ragged him by the head 1st minute and they were targetting stamping on his feet knowing his ankles are a bit dodgy. Godfrey and Holgate for 2 would have weighed with a few of our own. Too much fear and that’s not the manager that is certain players.

Agree with your list but I dont see the fixation with Mina, I`d like to see him replaced by a proven CB. 8 or 9 good players of acceptable quality is a damning state of affairs at Everton, you can see why injuries hurt us so much.....

I’m not saying we should shoot him out of a cannon like I would the majority of them but I would be open to selling . His actually ability with the ball of not very good tbh. He works hard for the team and can finish well inside the box but he loses the ball constantly. Our attacks slow break down so often with him, he chooses the wrong option a lot , his weight of pass is terrible and he goes down constantly .

It does feel like he's stating the obvious, but maybe going public is what Carlo thinks might send a rocket up a few backsides.

All he can do is get into their mindset and demand fight. There ain't much room for dropping players to send a message. I'm not sure he's got an array of tactical alternatives to play with either.

He’s had a poor season by his standards but I would stick with him. I suppose for the most part we are on the same page.

...I imagine the post-match comments were a kick up the backside for the individuals he sent out, which is good. I do think, though, Ancelotti got it wrong today.

With players injured, he found a formula that makes us hard to beat but now when more are available he hasn’t yet found the right balance between defence and attack.

I’m sure he’ll sort it, but he was as at fault as the players today.
