Here's my perspective: we have an organisation set up to build a new stadium, and the playing side of things is staying in the PL (preferably challenging for a Euro spot along the way) is the objective...but if that objective

Realistically top 4 was available due to the massive underperformance of several other clubs with much better squads, and 'despite' this squad rather than because of it.

Before the season started, I expected us to finish around where we are with this squad. Expectations have risen as the season has gone on as circumstances have arisen.

Next season I'd say phase 2 of squad overhaul will be complete, and that's when I expect more.

Yes, so stop right there...if it was realistic, why wasn't it reached?

A less well financially backed club like WHU have made a better stab at it than us. And Leicester stand there where they are - in pole position for a CL place - and their development is like an accusatory finger pointed at our football club, demanding why we aren't in their position.

There's no spin that can be put on this. To finish down near mid-table in a season like this where the wheels came off three clubs who usually secure a CL spot is unforgivable. We needed to get a lot nearer than we are to the Euro places in order to be able to accept any excuse as to why we miss out again.

Tbh, agree with with most of that, but feel/ hope Pickford has turned a corner, easily mom last night, stopped us getting a hiding, his form lately has been immense. Realise now I've gone against the grain and will probably get a lot of grief, but so what whose arsed.

You're right there, he's quietly knuckled down and been very good of late.

Which is tempting fate. I've posted similar before and he's gone back to clown Town the following game. Fingers crossed!

Well it does look like this was a season in transition. We had so many games with kids on the bench and no options. Obviously Carlo clearing it out before new players come in the summer.

I'm just disappointed it turned out the way it had. At one point we looked like we could challenge Top 4, and we kept losing to terrible teams by 1 goal... it was always by a goal. The only game I think we lost by more than that was Newcastle. This tells me the side can't create anything.

We honestly need another 10 GOOD players in the squad, so it's going to take at least two summers to get that.

Also as someone who lives in the Asia time zone...the last few months have been super frustrating. most of the games are on in the early hours of the morning (12-6am) because they're the late games in the UK, which means I dont stay up for them and only watch the replay if we win... I've watched like 2 or 3 games in 3 months? I've had to watch champions league games because there's so little Everton worth watching right now.

We have over achieved all season . The lack of credible options off the bench has finally come to roost. You can't rely on 1 striker all season. You can't rely on 1 injury prone albeit a genius creative player. Your can't rely on a 30 something has been right back who was finished 3 yrs ago. This is undoubtedly a missed opportunity this season
