Would normally be a good idea mate, but it's who replaces him, Davies or Scneiderlin!

Lincoln would be the game too rest him.

I'd say if we are gonna rest him v Leicester, then the only way to do it is (probably in hindsight) what Silva should have done v Brighton - i.e. 3-4-3, with Gana and Gylfi in midfield.

That'd be the only way you could do it for me, other than - like you say - Davies or Schneiderlin coming in.

I was going to say Sigurdsson mate, but he just doesn't do it for me in the middle of the park, saying that, neither do the other 2.

I wouldn't go that far mate, we played really well, but awesome performance, nah.

That first half was as good as I've seen an Everton side play at the Pit. Not comparing it with much, like.

Liverpool are an ace side, unfortunately. We made them look bang average in the second half when they resorted to pot shots from range and ultimately we didn't have the composure to finish them off. Not saying we deserved to win, but we didn't deserve to lose.

Those 2 sitters missed by Mina and Gomes still make me wince.

I agree, but I think we saw v Burnley it can work in a certain system.

If Gomes needs a rest, I'd have no issue with sticking with a back three because at least it's not chopping and changing the system all of the time.

At least in that formation, there's more protection with three CBs, and you'd have Gana to mop up. It's not like playing Gylfi in a deep two which - unless we're dominating against a side sitting back - is just going to leave us exposed.

Lincoln would be the wrong game to be resting anybody let alone Gomes.
They will come here top of their league with their tails up and fancy their chances.
Get the job done 1st then think about resting.
Can you even imagine what the atmospher would be like to lose the game in the 3rd round....it could get nasty.
Gomes and a full strength team start for me.

It all depends on where we finish in the table. If we finish the season strongly in 7th and qualify for EL he'll stay imo.

If we continue to be inconsistent and finish say 9th-11th I think he'll seriously question if he wants to be playing for a run of the mill midtable side and I'tll be a 50/50 chance.
