Or...

He's just coming back from injury and hit the ground running. He's not played a lot of football in the last two years and is doing his first run of festive fixtures. He's then picked up a knock v Spurs and not been himself since. Needs a rest.

No pre season, comes straight into starting 11 , playing in the most fast paced physically demanding league in the world ,called up for his country , then comes into a schedule that has 4 games in 10 days and gets a knock in the first one against Spurs, not rested. I’m thinking it’s fatigue too tbh

Seriously... he's making mistakes that have nothing to do with tiredness. Awful passes, bad decisions...

On his game he looks great. Off his game he doesn't. Stop making excuses that don't wash.

I think he is being given way too much slack.

Could these mental and physical frailties he has been showing recently be why he was given so much stick at Barcelona?
Valencia is no tiddly team, mate- it's only at Barça, his mental fortitude was questioned.

Lol misplacing simple passes , decisions making etc are a direct response to fatigue mate. Not saying that’s it is 100% fatigue ( I think it is tho) but failure to do the basic skills usually happens when you’re injured or knackered .

....i’m not one for excuses, but they are the type of things that happen when your batteries are low. Him and Richarlison in particular look flat to me.

Looks spent. His passing yesterday even early on was very poor by his standards. He was a yard off the pace. Needs a week off. They all do really.

It’s vital to score first. There’s no energy to chase a game. Looked like we were wearing clogs running through treacle.

He doesn't need to appear for us now until the 13th, so a good week and a half off should do him and Richarlison, who also needs a rest, the world of good. I'd also put Sigurdsson and Digne in that bracket too, and hopefully we'll be able to put some good results together from the next league game.

Half games in the cup if all goes to play for Pickford and Gueye.

My starting XI for Lincoln, 4-4-2, changing to 4-5-1 once we're comfortable.

Pickford (Virginia)
Kenny
Zouma
Mina
Baines
Lookman
Gueye (Schneiderlin)
Davies
Bernard (McCarthy)
Tosun
DCL

11 days off for those suffering from fatigue. Give them 5 days off to go for a relaxing spa holiday in the Alps, then get the training again ready to hit the ground running against Bournemouth.

He has a knock and isn't playing well.

The knock won't help his form, just as fatigue won't. He needs a rest.

Imagine Molby having 5/6 poor games on the trot for the redssyte.

He was fat, always injured, more immobile than Gomez, and would have been on several benders over xmas/new year.

He would still have been available for the ball constantly and banged it forward to one of his own players to feet every time.

Poor old Gomez.

Gomes is getting put into the pickford bracket of "can't be criticised cos he's class and that's that"

His passing was off cos he's tired??? Absolute tripe. I've seen players with cramp pass the ball better than him in the last two matches. He made one bad pass early on and it just got progressively worse. It's because he can't clear his head.

Laughable the extremes some fans will go to to try and pass off an awful performance cos they don't want to believe a player who has showed such class can be poor. That was not down to tiredness. Digne has played non stop and you don't see anything like that.

If that was Ross Barkley the posts would be more severe.

All I'm saying is don't be surprised if this is nothing to do with tiredness and more to do with mental fragility.

Havent done much physical work in your day, I see

And you would know that how?

Ah sorry. Here's the ex pro going to tell me I know nothing.... how poor were you when you played 5 games in 10 days?

Can we order some more grandoldteam bubble-wrap for another Everton player worthy of sympathy and not criticism please. Pickfords used up a whole roll of the "young will learn"... lukaku used up the "He's only 21... his touch will get better"..... we need some "He's tired and needs rest" for Gomes..... Digne said said he can have his as he doesn't need it.

Both have excuses as such. Richarlison is only 21. He seemed to suffer burnout in the second half of the season at Watford. Since he came here he’s been called up to the national team and therefore isn’t getting any sort of break during international weeks.
Gomes missed the majority of pre-season due to injury which always disrupts a players fitness. 4 games in 10 days, any player would feel it, let alone someone who missed pre-season. This is not an excuse, more a reality of what both players are encountering.
Both players are class acts. We have far bigger issues to resolve with regard to the first team then the ‘tiredness’ of both players, moreso bringing in players with the same ability as these two.
