Some might say he dropped off once he got the contract after the loan.Real shame how hard he dropped off after his injury.
Edit; which makes me worry about DvdB too

Pickford hoofed it all game. Kept giving it to Soton whenever he could.Because of his mistake for the first goal, we were scared of playing the ball to him when coming out from the back, resulting in Pickford having to hoof it. He didn’t look interested one bit. I know Allan was on a yellow but I’d have risked 10-15 minutes to just get a rhythm going in the 2nd half. It was effectively game over as soon as he came on. Someone of those fouls were ridiculous, especially the one he jumped to knee the fella in the back.
To be honest, I agree. That’s fair. It’s just the general frustration with seeing the same thing happen over and over. The fans know that this group of players just cannot be trusted as they are weak minded and just not technically up to it. I do feel sorry for Lampard but if we stay up, it is getting to the point where players like the aforementioned just need to be left out of next year’s squad and told to train with the kids even if they can’t be moved on, no matter how long they have left on their contracts.
The issue Mick, as you later alluded to, is that it's more often not his day than it is. I don't think he has the pace, physical or mental presence for this level.
It's far too easy for teams to out muscle him and then for him to become a passenger in a game. I genuinely worry when he's on the pitch.
He was, at best, inconsistent before the injury. I had high hopes after a performance in one of the away derbies but he was and is incapable of consistently decent performances.Real shame how hard he dropped off after his injury.

Yes, he doesn't have the mental toolbox for top level professional football, I'm afraid. But Evertonians love the concept of redemption. It's why some were touting the ludicrous notion that Iwobi might have turned a corner last week as if the novice manager Lampard was some kind of miracle worker. He is finished as a top level footballer a long time ago and we just keep insist on hoping that is not the case. He had documented mental health issues already at Barcelona and the leg break here will have had a huge impact on him as well. The fella needs support but as a top level footballer I think it's took too much of a toll on him.
Very true bro. Blues do it all the time, a crap player has one good game or one good moment and the rest is forgotten.Yes, he doesn't have the mental toolbox for top level professional football, I'm afraid. It's incredible, isn't it? So much for being a good judge of a player. I mean, we've had three or four or more seasons of some of these guys now, and people are still imagining the jury hasn't come in on these lads years ago. A flash here or there and there is some weird sentimental clamour for this player to be given yet another chance to stink out the side. To be fair to the fans, when these players see off manager after manager and the next manager comes in and gives them all a clean slate and a chance to wreak havoc once more, what should we expect?Very true bro. As stated else where - average players have the odd good game, Good players have the odd average game...Yes, he doesn't have the mental toolbox for top level professional football, I'm afraid. That is why we are potentially getting relegated with too many players given third or fourth chances. None have improved and it's like the club are more concerned with justifying paying so much for these players than cutting losses and replacing. Someone said yesterday that they wouldn't swap anyone from Southampton team to ours but there is an issue with ours to be this bad for so long. It's entirely on the players at this point that it keeps happening. We have just had the bad luck that a kopite sped up a 2 year decline into 6 months. It's incredible, isn't it? This is why Marcel Brands was disastrous for our club. Holgate has a contract to 2025!Has a contract until June 2024, he is going nowhere
You're right, but he's never tried to adapt his game to PL. Never tried to improve his physicality, fitness to be more competitive.Amazing that people still think a 3 month injury 2 years ago is the issue. He was never suited to the league.
