I can see the potential of a page or two to be devoted to Andre in the (auto) biographies of several Everton managers to come in the future.
Gomes seems to epitomise all that's wrong and what has failed at Everton. I don't get how someone with his supposed pedigree and experience could look so hopelessly out of place yesterday. So out of place that he could and should have been substituted.
Has his career to date just been proof of someone who can get this far but still hoodwink football professionals and others continuously?
He should be taken out of the team for his and everyone's benefit. Accept that he in all likelihood won't take a pay cut to move but perhaps time out might give him the perspective to re-think that stance. Something other than psychological brittleness and profound lack of confidence is wrong here. Fundamentally, he simply isn't good enough but nor should he be as woeful as he was yesterday.
