He will be gone in the summer unless he takes a considerable drop in wages. I think we should utilise him in managing games and saving some legs. I would trust him playing the last 25 minutes in a game if we need to open up a team or we have to see a game out. I thought he should have played a part on Sunday as Doucoure was running on fumes aswell as Harrison. We seen out a draw but Doucs is now injured again unfortunately.

Apart from his goal he was neat and tidy in parts but the fella can't press so it's so easy to bypass him so there's no slot in midfield for him and as a 10 he's anonymous a lot of the time.

Could definitely be used in home games against Luton, Sheff Utd etc and maybe as a sub in others.
I’d keep him on if he more than halved his wages but I can’t see that happening!
I read he’s on 120kpw. I think as an option to have someone who can get on the ball and play some killer passes he’s worth keeping around for like 50kpw, especially whilst we’ll be spending cautiously if at all!

Agreed! I was at that miserable Luton home game and we desperately needed someone who could create chances with a perfect pass.

I think most would for the right money. He’s got some skills nobody else has and could help break down stubborn teams who sit back more than Doucoure who’s more about the press and counter attacks.I said last night someone will say today give him deal
It’s a moot point though really as I’ve never seen a player accept a pay drop of over 50%!

He’s 31 in the summer and cost us 50mil in fees and wages and contributed virtually nothing. Even on half salary he’d want a 2/3 yr deal a nice signing on bonus, he could have something in his contract about a big bonus for a new deal ? We could be talimg 10 to 15mil . We could surely use that money better
We know we massively overpaid him before, that’s not really relevant and I’m definitely not saying give him 2 or 3 years!
Something like 50k as a one year extension seems worth it to me if he stays fit and keeps contributing like he has done the few games he’s been involved in. I don’t see how we afford a more effective passer at the moment.
