His ball retention stands out and I dont really wanna bash the lad but im still not "seeing it", that doesnt mean im writing him off at all and he looks promising, but sadly ive yet to "see it".

Very early days yet tho.

He's made a good start without looking like a world beater. The problem for me with our fans (and probably every other club) is that a few decent games get people thinking the kid is going to solve our midfield woes for the next 10 years. If he has the career of someone like Osman, he'll have done well.

...obviously a different type of player but if he has the impact of Osman I think he’ll have done a lot better than ‘well’.

I like Gordon, I think he’s showing glimpses of quality and the manager trusts him. Good size, good movement, good touch. His Academy days suggests he has goals in his locker, he strikes the ball sweetly and is already taking some of the set pieces.

Signs are good he can be an effective footballer at this level.

The lad is bulking up so he isn't a skinny malink, I hope we persist with him and rotate with Bernard if needed, He hasn't lit the place up but I think he's been steady and the Richarlison assist is what we need just simple stuff like that, I have big hopes for him.

Looks like he is trying to put the extra work in to give himself the best chance of succeeding, which is a credit to him, as he could just go training then home like a lot of them.

Would be nice to see him get some England u21 caps this season.

Also over the course of the year slot a few goals.

Agreed

It’ll happen though sadly. We’re the worst fans in the league for it

Look at the Holgate thread before this season

It's embarrassing... Older seasoned professionals poor performances pretty much fair game for me.

Although, not keen on younger players being diffys couple with being pants, Mosie Kean Covid party being a good example.

Gordon is a good lad...

Maybe I'm imagining it, but to me Gordon in his last few appearances it looks like he's already into the square and backward passing thing.

Anthony Gordon has signed a new five-year contract with Everton until the end of June 2025.

The Academy graduate burst to prominence in 2019/20, ticking off a series of milestones as the 19-year-old’s development accelerated under Carlo Ancelotti.

Blues manager Ancelotti displayed the ultimate show of faith in Gordon when handing the player his full debut in June’s Goodison Park Merseyside derby.

Gordon, the second player this week to commit his long-term future to Everton after England international defender Michael Keane, insists his excitement over being awarded fresh terms is heightened by his optimism over the Club’s potential with Ancelotti in charge.

The player, who joined Everton aged 11 and made his senior debut in a Europa League tie against Apollon Limassol as a 16-year-old in December 2017, figured in 11 top-flight games last term, starting four times.

“I am delighted to sign and it is a big reward for my hard work,” Gordon told evertontv.

“The contract shows the Club’s faith in me and how much confidence they have in me and that is going to come out in my performances on the pitch.

“Everton is looking like it is on the up.

“We are coming together as players, staff and fans.

“We have new things to be excited about, such as the new manager, Marcel [Brands] is a great Director [of Football] and we have the new stadium to look forward to.”

Everton also handed five-year deals to 23-year-old English pair Mason Holgate and Dominic Calvert-Lewin earlier this year.

With Keane signing identical-length terms, Gordon is convinced Everton are assembling a core of players to sustain the Club through a successful period.

“That is another thing we can be excited about, we have really good young players as part of our squad,” added Gordon.

“Hopefully, we can grow and progress together and get that bit of experience where we can go and do something.

“Not just push for silverware but get there and win trophies and achieve what we want to achieve.”
