2021/22 Anthony Gordon

Lampard put him in the same category as Foden and Mount today.

I think he's right.

Put him in a better team* and he's going to do some real damage.

*Hopefully a better Everton team.
I think he's quite similar to Mount in how he plays the game. Both have the nice little burst of acceleration, similar technique on the ball, and happy to scurry around trying to win it back.

For me, Foden's different and a level above Mount, even, but it's great to hear someone like Lampard put him in that bracket.

Dave, you think he Gordon is in the same category as Foden and Mount!! Foden is already world class and as young or younger than Anthony, Mount is also well ahead. Anthony was knackered after seventy minutes today and apart from his goal I thought he did little that came off, he is being flattered with false praise from Lampard if he genuinely thinks Gordon is in the same class as Foden and Mount, but we all see players differently.

Well you were at the match mate so likely didn’t hear the interview. Frank was talking about Gordon’s attitude in training, always seeking to improve and he classed him as when he worked with Mount and what he sees as the same attitude in youngsters in this country like Foden and Mount . Thats from my memory , I saw it briefly post match , Frank was buzzing and answering a question about Gordon. I didn’t take it as flattering with false praise , rather a winning manager praising the attitude of his youngest player .

Apart from when it's JJK!

Hahaha. No my policy doesn’t discriminate mate, I’d like to think that if he’s got the bravery to shoot then so will the other players who’s actual job it is to give it a go!

Plus it gets the fans going! No one can clap pointless passing, only good football which is usually awesome calm defending and putting together attacks to make shots happen!!

I’m bollocks. Can’t believe I’m still awake lol.

He only turned 21 in Feb. Mount has 3 years on him and i think was playing under Lampard at Derby at the same age?

I see Foden as potentially world class...Mount a bit like Gordon AND Lampard who had to work hard at their games and fitness to improve.

We dont know how good Gordon will be but 2 years ago he had an article come out about having his own personal trainer and the things he was doing to boost fitness levels.

The 100% effort on the pitch as well as the self improvement will make average players good ones and good players very good.

He may not hit the very top but im confident he'll do well under Lampard.

Superb season, comfortably our player of the year. If we stay up we can build a new team around him, go down and he can bring us straight back up.

Interesting the point about player development, he has improved due to getting game time but it’s more impressive his performance in terms of where the team has been at most of this season. Mykolenko had been wrote off by some on here, astonishing considering his off field situation, but he’s also a very young player and I’ve seen a progression in his performance over 3 games in a week. I’m hoping we can try to blood some more young players, Price, Patterson and Dobbin spring to mind. If we stay up this season, I think Frank will have a good look at these lads and things may not look as bad as we invisage. Good things maybe not be too far away.

Yes I agree he will be a good player, hopefully with Everton, but to go overboard like Frank has done does Anthony no favours. To praise him as he did after yesterdays game was well over the top, maybe to give him confidence, but I honestly thought that Gordon while putting plenty of effort in good have done a lot better with some of his end products and yes I was delighted with his goal and the three points it brought.

It was the same as when Martinez compared Ross Barkely to Gascoigne. That one worked out well. Slow down, man. Let the kid improve without all the hyperbole. You never know how making these comparisons will affect a young players.
