2021/22 Anthony Gordon

Thought the coverage of him was a disgrace to be honest. There’s a young English player come through the academy, fought for a place in the first team against more expensive options, and has been our best player this season.

Straight from the offset in the derby Tyler’s first comment is ‘he’s not very good but he’s extremely quick’. Then Carragher starts his agenda on Gordon being a diver from the first time Alexander Arnold pulls him back (which was a foul). Ok he made the most of contact in the box for the first pen but there was contact and it’s nothing more than you’ll see every single attacker do in the league (an art mastered by Salah and Mane), yet immediately Carragher was giving him the Richarlison treatment.

At the end of the au there was a young English attacker giving Liverpool more problems at Anfield than the majority of the league has managed and all sky had for him was a character assassination. Classless from that kopite infested rat ship.
The lad hardly got a mention on Sky when ripping apart the RS golden child time and time again.. they laughed when Arnold scythed him down after he skint Keita.
Yet Diaz does a silly Neymar jump to control the ball under no pressure and Sky have actually a page on SSN today about it.
Sky are just the same as the rest of the media world.. put the right people in the right jobs and the world gets conned.

I love his committment and willingness, but I've said it all season, I just don't see enough from him, in the position he's in.

There's no doubting his effort and his speed is fantastic, but we need players who can score, pass and cross in that position.

As with everything Everton, I'm in two minds. Do we drop him and hope the replacement can provide better crosses/attacks but potentially lose a player who's willing to give his all. Or do we continue with him, knowing he'll chase down everything, but he may not provide anything worthwhile on the ball.

It's an incredibly tough decision.

Think the rs and rs media character assassination of young Tony following his being fouled/feeling contact and not getting any pens is crass and unforgivable. I thought his booking was harsh, but it seems I’m wrong.

For them all to go in with such vitriol, on a young player in his breakout season, who has been one of our best players, is contemptible imo.

He’s no worse than many other, more senior players in the league for play acting/diving (Jota/Mane/Salah/Grealish/Jesus/Sterling), but the obvious difference is that he doesn’t play for city or Liverpool.

Keep going Flash, you will get the decisions you deserve at some point.

Absolutely agree. The scheming well poisoners are at it again. Assassinating the character of an exciting Young English player for the crime of playing for Everton. They should be ashamed of themselves as they know what they are doing.

I think it’s absolutely disgraceful, but knew it would happen.

He wouldn’t be treated and spoken about like that if he played anywhere else - disgusting.

I said he will get the decisions he deserves at some point - probably after he has left Everton tbh.

Disgusting that commentry.

Throw enough shi' and some of it sticks , wish the club would kick up over the likes of this.

Not a peep out of the very same when Salah was doing it game after game.
Or Vardy 'winning' pens every other week with his trailing leg.

At the very least its totally unprofessional from Carragher & Tyler , but we all know its just blatant bias.

We stick with him.

When you play Liverpool you are only allowed to talk about Liverpool players. Nobody else can be mentioned as their players are so much better than everyone else’s. If you value a career in sports media you will stick to this script.

Worth pointing out that he’s 21 like.

I weren’t too convinced last season, but I’ve seen enough over the past few months that he has enough raw ingredients and the work ethic to become a very good footballer.

Nobody’s claiming he’s a generational talent, but some fans seem to work in extremes and you’re either one of the best young players in the world, or your league 2 standard.
This is it. Saw a post saying he’s not a top 6 player … none of our players are

Fact is if he gets 20 goals in the premier coming from the academy he’s a success. Right now he’s good enough to start for us which makes him a success. He’s also our best bet of survival as it stands
