If we sold him, Richarlison and maybe even DCL in the same window then what really is the point anymore?
There is no point. All trophies are bought by either the Saudis or some US conglomerate. We and all the other teams are just cannon fodder for the tv audience. Go find a local amateur team to follow like I have (they're equally crap - but at least there's a chance something might change each week when a ringer comes in.)

This young man along with Richarlison carried this club last season.
To sell one of the clubs most popular players is dispiriting to sell two would severely damage supporters morale before the season even started.
Having good players who also have a rapport or connection to the support is a major advantage.

I think it'd be a mistake to sell him.

Yes, he's not exactly Arjen Robben when it comes to converting, but his touch, close control and genuine, defender-scaring electric pace aren't as easy to come by as some seem to believe.

He was also the only thing keeping us alive before Richarlison started scoring in the run-in last season.

It is all very well saying take the money but still need to find a suitable replacement and based on past recruitment performance of Everton that is not going to be easy. Plus time is running out before the new season starts in four weeks. If we keep on losing our decent players god knows what sort of motley crew will stroll onto the pitch for the first game

Why are people mad about this? You could replace his contribution to the team last year for a third of that fee.
I disagree, he has become one of our best players to hold the ball, run with the ball and see opportunities. Just needs to improve his finishing.

We would take the money for a young local lad with potential and give it to Wolves for their 6th choice CM.

Everton, Everton, Everton.

He needs to work on his end product imo. Some of his crossing is woeful. I can see why people rate him, he’s just frustrating to watch at times.

I know what you’re saying but:

The richest teams have always won the majority of the trophies. We broke the transfer record numerous times in our history when we used to win stuff.

Leicester have won a league and a cup in the last decade, if we were properly managed why couldn’t we at least win a cup? I cba to look it up but in the last two seasons I reckon we’ve beaten every team in the league at least once other than City so on our day we could win a cup.

West Ham and Leicester got to a semi in Europe. Glasgow Rangers got to a final in Europe and were beaten by an average German team who we could beat on our day.

So yeah, selling our best player was crap but that doesn’t mean we should give up and sell all our other good players.

Presumably all the posters who constantly say we should sell DCL, and now say Gordon, have either not paid any attention to our recent recruitment, or fancy a year in the championship.

Selling our best young player to Newcastle just shouldn't even be considered. Our dignity would be in pieces and the club's reputation would be in the mire. It would be an utter embarrassment to the fans and an acceptance that we no longer care about even being competitive.

What good is money to a club with an abject squad and no clue who to recruit properly? What do people seriously think will happen?

Our supporters seem oblivious to just how bad we were and how close to relegation we are.
This squad with Gordon in it goes down next season.

If we have to sell to buy then we can only sell players other clubs want.

Don't want to sell Gordon or DCL but don't see any movement on anyone else.

Yes he’s got another 3 seasons to keep improving and more. He’s had a breakthrough season and put in a shift in every single game with glimpses of ability. Hopefully end product will improve with more and more game time, I’d imagine it will hopefully with DCL leading the line he’s got more to aim at as well. Think we need to remain calm over him and let him develop without expecting him to pull up trees every game.

…it’s not only supplying DCL, it’s DCL supplying him.
