2022/23 Anthony Gordon

I think you’re confusing yourself with your own argument here mate. If Chelsea are going to stick him in their youth team and loan him out for 5 years then selling him for £50m is an absolute no brainer isn’t it. The worry is that we sell him and it all clicks into place and is forever the one that got away. If he does a Jeffers/rodwell/Barkley then it’s undoubtedly a great deal for us.

I don’t think I’m contradictory myself mate, I think it’s a really poor move for him, in fact I think he will go the same way as Barkley, because he won’t get the foundation or opportunity. Chelsea will make money on him, loaning him out and eventually sell him on.

No doubt in my mind Ross could have been a great player, that ended the day he signed for Chelsea, I believe Anthony can be great if given the foundation and opportunity to play and develop, I don’t think he will get that at Chelsea. I think he will, get it here.

The silence from the club is deafening.

They are making this deal no matter what
He looks quite happy to me

He has to become quite a player to justify that fee. Stones is very good and we still got a good deal from that.

Heretic , heathen , beg for forgiveness and may god have mercy on your soul …

Actually our souls , as I share the same opinion.

It may be a little short sighted , but selling him for 35m to Newcastle , at 100% Profit on the books , and then signing cornet or even the fella that we want from wolves ( I have never seen him play tbh) may have been a better move for us, as I Gordon cannot pass, shoot or cross a football
We will get more 35 mill from chelsea AMAZING

I don't think anybody wants to sell Gordon but 50m is a lot of money for a player who doesn't have much end product.
I don't think the situation is the same as it was with Rooney.
When we sold Rooney we were desperate for the cash this time it's all about FFP we have to sell to buy in order to keep ahead of the game to avoid massive penalties. I would ask anybody who wants to keep Gordon do you feel confident we can steer clear of relegation with the squad as it is with no forwards signed and relying on DCL getting back to full fitness because I am not
I would have sold DCL before his injury before selling Gordon but that is not an option now. We have to sell so we can improve the goal scoring capability of the squad.
The ultimate goal for the club at the moment is to balance the books and stay in the premier league when we move to Bramley Moore.

This it’s purely business and as attached to Everton as we are we need to realise moshiri is running a business he hasn’t bought us for the love of Everton and as much as I like Gordon a 16 year old Rooney excited me much more that Gordon does or ever will, at this moment in time albeit only one season but he hasn’t shown me anything to suggest he’s going to be one of the best in the league. And right now if richarlison was £50m and Jesus 45m then we was mad to turn down 40-45 for Gordon and not even sure if we have despite reports.
Got little to do with Moshiri really too though really, just like you say it's mad money to turn down.

We have turned down two bids. One of £40m, one of £45m. We have a valuation and clearly Chelsea haven't met it yet. They might not do at all, in which case he'll stay.

Is it? City paid £100 million for Grealish which should the tone. If you view AG at £50 million you are suggesting that he is half the player Grealish is. I am not sure that is anywhere near to the truth.
Jack Grealish is twice the player Gordon currently is, yes.

But we also shouldn't use a buy-out clause inserted to one of the Premier League's best performing players in the 2020-21 season, which Grealish was, and his new deal - signed in 2020 - as a yard stick here.

I'm not sure what Everton value Gordon at. But he's clearly not yet a player that should be going for anything above £30m in any normal market. But, the Premier League isn't a normal market and you can double down on that madness if you involve a club like Chelsea. So Everton can demand whatever they want for Gordon. If Chelsea pay it, so be it.

But back to your point, yes I'd say Jack Grealish right now, at 26 about to turn 27, and at 25 about to turn 26 last year, is a much much better player than Gordon. Of course he's not a £100m player, but nobody should be.

If we end up getting 50m or more then we have played this well for once. If they don't come back in I feel we have missed out on a massive opportunity and hope there are funds available for forward players.

I think he's a smart lad (choice of kecks aside), I think he loves playing for the club and for Lampard and probably realises that career wise staying is gonna see him develop more.

If he kicks on then I can only imagine the respect he'd gain by being the one who 'stayed' when he could have jumped or been forced to jump ship would bring him
You know though mate I don't think many sensible people are taking this out on Gordon or saying he's forcing any move.

People are just like yeah if they do come back in - they might not do - then we should probably consider doing business. Up to the club on that side and then if Gordon is open to the move.

FWIW, there is zero chance Chelsea would have bid twice, which they have done, if the player's reps had absolutely categorically said no. Similarly, there's zero chance they'd have bid twice without knowing Everton do have a valuation on Gordon. Because no player in our squad of general tosh is priceless, and rightly so.

Fabrizio Romano In an interview with GMS, he said:

“On the player side, there will be no problem, but it’s also true that Everton will fight to keep the player.

“They would love to keep him for one more season and maybe sell him next summer for a different price. So, at the moment for Gordon, this is the situation.”
