2022/23 Anthony Gordon

If the big 60 million bid comes in Gordon will be sold. For the boy's sake, I hope this doesn't happen. If he goes to Chelsea at this stage of his career his development will stall. He will be loaned out all over the place for a few seasons and, before he knows it, he will be in his mid 20's and going nowhere. He will obviously be a very wealthy young man, but, he may well regret the fact that he didn't stay at Everton for a couple of more years. He will be a first team player here and nurtured as a special talent.

I know that the money he is being offered by Chelsea, is probably more than we would pay him, but, I think it would be better for him and us, in the long run,, if he just commits to us and signs a new contract. Plenty of time for him to move on yet. Let him become an experienced premier league player first.

That’s incredibly naive! He’s still the chairman, and evidently been involved in all the in’s & outs this summer.

Of course it could & probably would be his decision to make.

Moshiri has been no where to be seen for quite some time.

Bill is still heavily involved
Think you're the one being naive mate. Moshiri probably has a billion pound invested in Everton, including all the commitments to the new stadium. Blue Bill has diddly squat. If you think for a moment he is entrusting that amount of capital to a theatre manager you are seriously mistaken.

That doesn't make it right that he has anything to do with transfers .
That is the role of the DOF.
I agree. Just saying this isn't on Bill. He does what he's told but is probably just above Kev in the pecking order. Not saying Mosh is making decisions on who we will/won't buy. But any big financial decision will be put past him first.

Yeah, I get the feeling Boehly fancies doing US style multi player trades, even if they don't really happen here. Like you say, I'm really not sure the cash offer comes, or if it does it's contingent on us giving it straight back on a player or two from them. In which case it's all about who the players are.
All it seems this NFL loving bell is fond of is telling the media what his bid might be and specifically what he feels it amounts to, yet he doesn’t disclose any intricacies whatsoever of how it’s derived. No formal bids are seemingly sanctioned to the club who own the player registration purely to unsettle the player in question. The brains behind player acquisitions are gone at Chelsea.

My biggest fear with this is that Chelsea come in with an impossible to turn down offer on deadline day and we don't have anyone else lined up or even if we do, we simply don't have enough time to get it over the line. Hopefully though Thelwell has all bases covered. Just have to wait and see what happens.

If Chelsea actually ends up offering 60+ mil, we shouldn’t say no. I personally don’t think he makes sense right now for their squad, but that’s an outstanding offer for him.

I do think we should be asking for one of Pulisic/Gallagher at least on loan in return though if it does happen.

On deadline day there is no offer we ‘have to say yes to’. Why would we choose to leave ourselves weaker with no chance of finding a suitable replacement?
Lampards red line will have hopefully been passed days before.
