If the big 60 million bid comes in Gordon will be sold. For the boy's sake, I hope this doesn't happen. If he goes to Chelsea at this stage of his career his development will stall. He will be loaned out all over the place for a few seasons and, before he knows it, he will be in his mid 20's and going nowhere. He will obviously be a very wealthy young man, but, he may well regret the fact that he didn't stay at Everton for a couple of more years. He will be a first team player here and nurtured as a special talent.

I know that the money he is being offered by Chelsea, is probably more than we would pay him, but, I think it would be better for him and us, in the long run,, if he just commits to us and signs a new contract. Plenty of time for him to move on yet. Let him become an experienced premier league player first.
Totally agree. He won't play at Chelsea. Saying moving to Chelsea will improve his chances of going to the world cup are nonsense. He's not going to the world cup this year whoever he plays for. But playing for us, for him, is easily the best option

If he goes to Chelsea I will lose all interest in his career like every other ex everton player. I support the club not the players

Trying to be realistic...

We must be waiting for the much-vaunted £60m bid that has been (no doubt deliberately) touted through the Press. Even if it comes in, for it to work for us we should assume it must include a structure that gives us a sizeable proportion up front, and/or quid pro quo loan of players we covet (Broja and Gallagher are most obvious).

What are the chances that Chelsea will now jump from a £45m offer to something that gives us this, in the next 24 hours?

If they do, game on, and we have a big decision to make.

But fair play to Frank - he's thrown the 'red line' gauntlet down and put them under pressure to come up with that offer quickly or back off.

Will be an interesting weekend.

Awful, that his best option is (probably) a tough relegation fight, which we are not fit to win.

This has been a very weird transfer saga. Id say the majority of Everton fans would have sold at 40m/45m and almost everyone here would have taken 60m. The people on talkback shows like Simon Jordan felt like 60m was too much. It's almost like Chelsea started listening to the feedback and never made that 60m bid but just put the rumors out there to see how people react. Frank was almost laughing at the 60m bid question, because he knows what's going on.

I honestly believe recruiters use fan forums for player valuations, and we wanted him to go at 40m, which is probably a red flag for them. Obviously this can't be helped, but in an ideal situation, we should have all have been singing Gordon's praises and asking for twice the price (at least ever since the transfer rumors started). I'm not saying Everton themselves should only accept 2x bids, but maybe we have to put out the perception that he is *wink wink* worth that.

Chelsea seem absolutely chaotic atvthe moment.
Yes. I wonder if Teuchel rates Gordon because he grafts and applies himself, which his squad doesn’t always do.

Maybe he establishes himself there as nailed on in their best XI. More likely he ends up in a wierd rotation with the other ill-fitting pieces in their midfield. I honestly don’t get what they’re trying to do. Less than the sum of their parts when they played us. Teuchel has lost the thread IMO.

I think a player like Gordon is what a winning side need. Will run down and chase down anything.

SAF did it with a few players.

Still wouldnt surprise me if we get a very big offer after this weekends games
A stellar performance with a goal or two would test both club: are Chelsea willing to pay the big bucks and importantly would we sell so late?

Personally, he’s not worth close to £60m, but he’s worth that much to us as we need cash to reinvest so we can rejuvenate the squad.
