Geordie in Peace,
Sad reading these comments especially after seeing how the lad was lauded by the majority of Everton Fans not that long ago. TBH, he wouldn't be the first name on a Newcastle fans Wishlist, he isn't the finished article but even the bitterest Evertonian must admit there is potential there waiting to be unlocked by a decent coach.....We have one of those in Eddie Howe. Anyway good luck for the rest of the season and i personally hope you can pull out of the [Poor language removed] show you are all having to endure

Welcome to the forum.

Please don’t swear.

Please do massively overpay us for Gordon.

Don’t agree mate.
don't agree with what bit, mate?

Surely you agree that he wasn't ready to be tasked the challenge he was last year? He worked tirelessly and his energy at first was a breath of fresh air. When that ran out, which it very much did at the end of the season - understandably of course - then we had what we've had all along with him: a talented player who isn't really that productive.

Then this season he was given the no.10, fair enough, and basically sold as the club's next great hope once Richarlison had left. Again, not on him.

Then of course the Chelsea interest and it did turn his head. He wanted to go. But they never offered what we wanted and Lampard absolutely didn't want to sell. He looked like the hype almost spurred him on and he showed flashes v Brentford and Leeds but it still wasn't the all-action Gordon we saw this time last year, was it? It was two nicely taken goals, that was it.

Where's that pressing gone? That energy that made him so hard to nail down even if his end product wasn't quite there?

He's got talent, but he's a long way off putting it together. And unfortunately we're in a crap financial position. He also is open to leaving. If Newcastle, a club we aren't competing with right now, want to pay £35m for a lad that doesn't score or create much, then we need to cash in.

It's a shame, but he is simply not worth keeping around when we have no other sellable assets other than Pickford and Dom, who are more crucial than Gordon if we're going to stay up.

he'll be good under Howe. You also won't need to use him as a regular starter just yet, which he isn't ready for. He's an impact player right now.

His best asset last season was his work ethic. That has dropped off, for one reason or another. He has talent but rarely did he know how to put it together consistently. That of course will come. But he was in the lowest percentiles for all attacking metrics last year and he isn't that higher up this season. He is, simply put, not that great just yet. But I don't doubt at a club where there isn't a threat of relegation and there's a bit less pressure in terms of him having to do everything, he could grow into a real talent in a few years.

He’ll give you half a season, then he’d probably fancy himself starting for Real Madrid and get a massive sulk on and become completely useless.

Honestly, he briefly looked good because he put in a bit of effort when the rest of the squad didn't. Had his head turned by Chelsea and has been crap ever since. Has things you can't coach (dribbling, pace). Doesn't have things you can't coach (can't finish or pass). Obviously buying him for quotas like city and chelsea do so don't expect anything from him.

He’s another player with potential, he’s by far not the finished article, I’d have taken him out if the team a couple of times this season and you would expect to have to that in his context. He has it all but he has to put it together. Like Gordon. Patience, nurturing and development is required.

It’s actually interesting to look at Garner, Onana Gordon. They are all in and around the same age, but how each is viewed, judged and seen as one for be future or not are very different.

Im looking forward to seeing Garner and Onana in the centre. That could be a good solid all round partnership.

Has to be better than playing Gana. He should be used in bursts for impact.

That group we have of Branthwaite, Patterson, Onana, Garner, we have to keep adding to it.

Whether thats from the youth team or incoming signings. Gordon out and use the funds to add to that group.

Imagine a high energy rapid young player running around chasing every ball and then driving forward.

That was Gordon last season.

In 2285mins he got 4goals and 2 assists.

In the summer we had interest in him and Chelsea offered £25mil + £15mil add ons which was rejected.

Gordon was playing well at the start of this season and numbers of £40-60mil were thrown into the media. Some of us were thinking that it makes sense to keep him...maybe he goes up a level and improves the team.

Once the window closed he seemed to down tools and believe hes better than he is...which is now 1097mins and 3 goals.

2 of those were in August and the 3rd was the final one in a 3-0 win at Palace. The only time the team have looked good in months.

Hes been poor bar that one game since the window closed.

I thought perhaps its a 2nd season syndrome thing but a number of people are now saying its gone to his head and the boy thinks hes maradona.

£35mil rising to £50mil and i think everyone on here bar @Neiler would see it as a good deal.

I understand why we didn't let Gordon go right after selling Richarlison.

But I think Gordon's best attributes were widely misunderstood by FL. He is not the best 1v1 dribbler nor the best shooter. What he gives is energy and pressing - which are all gone this season. Once the effort is gone, Gordon is just a below-average player. Trying to reward him 100k per week wage also reeks of poor management & desperation when he hasn't done anything this season.

He has got potential, Very fast, no end product at the moment.
watching him when he was younger he looked good in the second striker role, hasn't done it for us consistently in the first team but, who has!
If you watch him for England under a 23's he is normally one of there best players.
Worth a gamble for you , if he gets coached well under a decent manager he could come good.
In are position if we used the money well(don't laugh) And we got a few goalscoring players in we couldn't refuse a decent offer.
ideally we could drop him out the spotlight and see what the new manager can get out of him( Lampard definitely wasn't a good one), but we really need players for the next half of the season right now not the future.
Worth paying around about 40 to 45 million in today's market when you see Some of the fees going about, he has a higher ceiling than a lot of them.
We really don't like the majority of are players at the moment and you wouldn't either of you had to watch them every week, it's not just him the fans are frustrated with they would gladly see the back of most of them.

No doubt I'll be in the minority here but I'll be gutted to see him go, I think he'll progress nicely at the horse punchers, all the pressure off him, joining a team that's doing well already and with a genuine feel good factor / positive environment, - A section of our fans seem to hold him to a higher standard than any other players in the squad just because he's a local lad, he gets more grief than he deserves and I do kind of get it, it's because of the desperate situation we're in as a club, but ultimately he cost us nothing and it's disproportionate.

People on twitter saying he's trash and they'd take 20 mil all day, snap their hands off etc, who the hell are we getting in to replace him with one week of the window left? If he's so poor why have 3 top half prem clubs been tracking him.

Real low point for me seeing him hit by that roadblock BS the other week.
